Christmas Decorations Help!

noons, 24 April, 2009 at 10:36 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi

I'm getting married on the 18th November this year in the Culloden hotel just outside Belfast. Everything was going fine until I went to see a photographer last week and she said that it will be very likely that the hotel will have its Christmas decorations up when I'm getting married. This has sent me into such a panic. Because of the suite we've booked, we have access to the 'Lady Jane tower' which has a big spiral staircase where we were hoping to get pictures taken and it is especially good for overhead pictures. Apparently if the decorations are up, there is going to be a big christmas tree in here with lots of donkeys around the bottom. I've nothing against donkeys but I really don't want them in my wedding photographs as we were aiming for the 'fairy tale' wedding.

Another problem is that the decorations are apparently red. My bridesmaid dresses are a raspberry/wine colour and my dress has the same colour in it and it will clash with the red.

Has anybody been to a wedding in the Culloden around this time or know when their decorations go up? Does anybody know if I can ask the hotel not to put the decorations up until after my wedding?

Thanks

    Hi,

I don't know anything about your hotel. But I do organise the xmas parties for my company, the parties always start around the 1st Friday of December leading up to Christmas. I think personally the 18th will be to early to have them up. But I would check with the hotel, see what they say they may put them up the following week?

I would say, phone the hotel and ask them. And if they say they will be up, as if there might be a chance of moving the donkeys for the afternoon? i don't really know what else to suggest, its a bit of an odd one.

I'd speak to your hotel now to find out what their decoration plan is and if there is anyway they can make some amendments to fit in with your day. Maybe they could at least move the donkeys!

I've been to 2 wedding in December - the venues were decked out in their Xmas paraphernalia and the brides just went with the flow - the decorations actually helped as it meant they didn't have to do as many floral and other decorations. And the photos were fab!

As I recall from last year they didn't put their decorations up till closer to the end of November. To know for certain, the best thing to do would be to ring the Culloden.

I know the Culloden well....beautiful venue. Theres a lovely fireplace so would be a shame if its obscured by a Christmas tree.

Are you in the Stuart Suite?

Update - just spoke to the hotel and they don't go up until the last week in november - phew!

i haven't been very 'bridezilla' so far but this was really niggling me and i suppose it was such a silly thing to be worried about which is why i was a bit embarrassed about phoning them but all sorted now Smiley smile

    thanks everyone Smiley smile
