Christmas Party Games...

Ali_G, 14 November, 2014 at 13:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

..I can't remember whether I've posted this before. I feel like I have, but I think I dreamt it.

Anyway, I'm organising the office Xmas lunch and a few people have asked whether there'll be any games.

There's 60 of us!

Any ideas for what we can do?

I'd opt for team games with that many.

Maybe a Christmas quiz with really tough questions.

Pass the balloon (using your knees or chin)

Pass the parcel with Christmas jokes in each layer and a comedy prize in the middle.

    Erm..... I will keep thinking....

Might not be suitable because there's quite a few people...

We have played games in the past where everyone has given a little known fact about themselves and who have to guess who owns the fact

    Or Guess the baby pics

I like the quiz idea too, not like a pub quiz where you read out the questions but prepare one before and 10 teams of 6 can work through them while they're eating. No smartphones allowed! Collect them in before dessert, check them during and give out prizes and wooden spoon after?

60's a LOT to play games with, so I agree with the quiz suggestions - you can always incorporate a "little known facts" section in to that, maybe about management?!

Failing that, some sort of hoopla effect thing (try and get a ring around an object in the middle of table)? Just trying to think of something which hasn't already been suggested.

I went to a ball at the weekend, and they gave everyone a tiny dice. Everyone had to stand up and throw their dice (just at their place, not across the table or anything).

Then the person who was the compere had a big inflatable dice. He threw that, and anyone who got the same number on their dice as he did on the big inflatable, had to sit down.

Then we did it all again until there was just one person standing and that person was deemed the winner.

There were about 150 people there, so when it started to drag out a bit, two inflatable dice were used so unless a double gets thrown, you get to eliminate twice as many people.

Random naff prize obviously awarded to the winner.

Will everyone know each other? Giving people an identity (celeb couple, or double act, famous pair) when they arrive and allowing them 30 mins to find their other half is a good way to get people mingling and talking to people they mightn't ordinarily talk to. Could be a good way of grouping people together for teams/ tables. So all the soap stars end up on one table, sportsmen on another, that kind of thing...

ETA: i agree 60 is a lot of people for games but once people are in teams they can perhaps nominate one team member to compete in each game. Award points and have a leaderboard.

Have you ever played heads or tails?

One person has the coin, everyone stands up and either puts their hands on their heads or bum (tails). Person in charge flips coin and if it's heads everyone that chose tails sits down. Carry on until there is only one person left.

The past few years we've done versions of TV game shows. There's about 20 of us but we normally feature the 5/6 bosses as the contestants. One year we did Family Fortunes and had questions like:

"We asked the staff of [company] what they associate most with [boss]." and the organisers went round the week before and got everyone's answers.

We've done Deal or No Deal and I'm a Celebrity (involving eating challenges and various other indoor challenges!)
