Church Ceremony Agreed! Just wanted to share ...

MrsSC-to-be, 2 March, 2011 at 08:50 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi All

I don't seem to be able to get on here much but just had to share my good news - we booked our local church for a blessing (to follow a register office ceremony) as it is second time around for both of us and so we didn't think a church wedding would be possible.... but our lovely vicar has told us she is more than happy to marry us and so we will have a 'proper' wedding in the church - sooooo excited! ?

It does seem to depend on the vicar - one of them in our area wouldn't even give you the time of day! We are lucky to have a lovely lady vicar in our local church who listened to our side of things, weighed it all up and then said yes. Thank you for your post.

I saw your post this morning on my phone but couldn't reply. I know exactly how you feel, as the new vicar in Mum's parish said yes to us and it means the world to me.

    Congrats! x

Congratulations!! How exciting! What did you say to your lovely Vicar - we are only allowed a blessing at our chosen church because we're not from the Parish Smiley sad

Good news indeed - i think most churhes have a discretionary policy on this.

We're the same - both married before but are having the full works in church and couldn't be happier about it. It's a good feeeling, isn't it?

It is a good feeling! We were just totally honest with our vicar and she listened to what we had to say and said that we had both had bad experiences in the past but everyone deserves a second chance. She also said it was obvious we were completely comitted to each other (and totally in love!) and so she didn't have a problem. If you are not from the Parish then they probably wouldn't consider it. It all seems to depend on the individual minister at the end of the day. Anyway KayleighSeymour - a blessing is practically the same service as a wedding (without the register signing bit) so I'm sure your ceremony will be beautiful!
