Church Numbers

sarah_Jayne1905, 20 December, 2013 at 12:54 Posted on Planning 0 8

Our Abbey (church) seats 150 people but our guest list is only around 100 and we can't guarantee that all will attend, i'm starting to worry that the church will look daft if it's only half full, do we have to fill it??

We aren't getting married in a church but our venue is an old chapel and the ceremony room has the original pews in, we are only having 50 guests and the room seats 100 so similarly to your situation it will only be half full. I'm just hoping that the the ushers will do a good job of making everyone sit near the front so the guests aren't spread out all over the place making the room look empty.

    Edit: Welcome to hitched ?

No don't try and fill it for the sake of it. Our Church is quote large I think it can hold 200 or so but we have less than 100 coming. I will ask the ushers to fill the pews at the front first so people are less spread out. Plus our Church has a very old boiler so sitting closer together will keep everyone warm!

Hiya! I am not sure exactly how many our church seats but I think it's around 150 and we only have 50 guests! I am sure it will look fine, at least there' not so many people to be nervous in front of!

I wouldn't worry too much, we are having a church wedding and our church seats about 150! We are only have about 65 in the church! Our ushers are making sure that everyone sits in the central pews so that they are all close together! If nothing else they'll keep each other warm!! x

You could also use ribbon/organza to tie of the end of pews at the back... To prevent people siting there

Ahh thanks guys, never thought to only seat people in a particular area, the church has individual chairs, rows of 6 either side so maybe we could just use the first 4 on each side that way the seats will look more filled Smiley smile

Ours holds well over 150 but we have around 90 to the day. Firstly it's what ushers are there for Smiley smile they can make sure people sit towards the front and such to make it look more full. Also as ours is pews rather than chairs, you just sit one less person per row, everyone has a little more room and is a little less cramped too Smiley smile
