Civil wedding readings

Hi all,

Was hoping for an opinion on readings for a civil wedding ceremony. Is anyone having more than two readings? We'd like three but can't work out where in the ceremony to have the third. The first will be after the declarations, and the second after the contractual words.

Has anyone else had a third and if so when was it read out?

Thanks in advance for any help...

    Hi,

    We'd quite like 3 as well. When we spoke to the registrar she said that you could have one towards the beginning, one just before the vows and one at the end.

    Have you met with your registrar yet? They should be able to tell you more

    I have a planning form to complete and then I guess the registrar's meeting follows...although it asks you to state your readings on the form. There is space for a third so I know that more than 2 can be done.

    Hadn't thought about having one at the beginning - that would be a really nice start...

    We had 2, the 1st being 'Today is the beginning' by Patience Strong (we had to change the word 'pray' to hope)

    Today is the beginning
    In the years that lie ahead

    the other can depend

    but be each others friend

    I'm ashamed to say I can't remember the second off the top of my head ?

    There was space on our form for 3 but we opted for none.

    I very rarely see 3 readings, one of the problems that the registrar may have is that they may have another wedding across town very soon after yours and so would discourage a 3rd reading.
    Sometimes they will take me to the side and say "Bill can you hurry up your bit as we have to get off"
