Cleaners - list of jobs?

Redbedhead, 10 February, 2009 at 07:10 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

Can anyone share with me the list of jobs their cleaner does for them?

H and I need to get a list together and I keep looking at it and having a niggly feeling that we have missed something.

Our plan was to do a list of things we would like done weekly and then have things we would like done but less often that can be rotated, so 1 is done one week, then another etc. Do you do this? We were planning on having things like cleaning the inside of the windows on this list.

Thanks

    Morning

Ours can only come once every 2 weeks unfortunately but here's what she does:

    Sweeps and mops floors downstairs

    Cleans kitchen worktops, hob, table

Dusts living room, fire place, bookshelves, tv, coffee tables (also hoovers the rug)

Hoovers hall, stairs and landing and all bedrooms upstairs and mops the bathroom floor

    Cleans bathroom

    Dusts in bedrooms

That's it I think - takes her 3 hours which I think is quite a long time but she does do a very good job. She said she will alternate jobs like hoovering behind all the furniture, cleaning inside of windows and cleaning oven etc.

Thanks Gembear. We seem to have a very similar list to you. I wasn't sure about asking about cleaning the oven - I heard somewhere that lots of cleaners won't do that, although it makes sense to ask her I imagine.

Our cleaner comes every other Friday and then stays for 3 hours and blitz the whole house. She dusts, hovers, washes all the floors and cleans the kitchen and bathrooms. We dont ask her to tidy the house, just clean. She is brilliant and the house always looks like a showhome when she has been there, she even folds the loo paper in to little points and rolls up the towels hotel stylee. ?

I have only met her once, when we gave her the key a couple of years ago, and I have never given her a list of what to do.

My cleaner used to do 5 hours a week and would:

wash, dry and iron anything in the laundry basket, put away clothes, strip and re-make the bed(s), dust and polish everything, wash the floors, clean the windows, do the washing up, clean the hob and oven, hoover, clean the bathroom and toilet, empty the bins, clean the balcony.

She was amazing although her obsession with making sure all the laundry was dry and put away within 5 hours often meant my clothes got tumble dried if I'd forgotten to do my own laundry over the weekend but it was worth it to have someone do all of the above for me every week.

    Thanks all.

I assumed we would need to provide a list of what we would like doing, partly so she could give us an idea of what it will cost / how long it will take although I would hope if something obviously needed doing and wasn't on the list she would do it.
