Cleaning an iron

Alexm, 22 September, 2008 at 11:58 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Boring qn I'm afraid. Our iron seems to have brown sticky something on it that is ruining all my clothes. Clearly it must be something from H as I couldn't possibly have been so stoopid.

What can I do to remove it. Have tried wiping it off hot and cold, steaming it etc but not much luck. Any miracle cures??

TIA

You can buy something that cleans it. Betterware/Kleeneze/Robert Dyes etc stock it.

Have you tried putting the iron on as hot as it will go, and then running it over a tea towel? I can't think of how else to do it, without damaging the sole plate.

As GingeyWife said, there's a magical stick thing that you rub on while it's hot, and then wipe off and it cleans it. Woolies do them too, for a couple of quid. It's like T-Cut, but for irons.
