    Modern coach or vintage bus?

We were getting quotes of £350 - £600 for a Routemaster.

This was around Southampton. However, our plans have changed since then and bus hire is no longer necessary.

£180 for a coach so in total and we actually had 3 coaches; one to take guests, a minibus to take evening guests and a 33 seater to take everyone away at end of night..... 360 in total i think it was.

I'm hsving three coaches, one is £195, the two others are £265. Of the ones at £265 one is travelling about 50 miles each way and the other is 14 miles!

So it seems to vary wildly - I would recommend you to contact lots of places as they differ so much company to company, and town to town...

Routemasters and other vintage buses/coaches are very popular and in short supply, hence the higher price. Also they are usually "double manned" - driver and conductor - which increases the price, whereas if it's just an "ordinary" 70 seater coach from a local company there are more vehicles to choose from and usually just one driver required.

Your local bus company may also do 'private hire' which although may not be quite so luxurious may work out a good deal, particularly as they'd probably make sure it was one that had been cleaned before going out on your job.

£495 for a Routemaster. We're in London, and are hiring two which makes it £1000 just on guest transport but the prices for "ordinary" coaches were almost as much so we thought it was worth the extra expense to have 'pretty' buses Smiley smile
