Coffee machines... recommend me yours..

lollyxx, 11 August, 2008 at 23:03 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

I am looking to buy hubby a new coffee machine for joint xmas / birthday present.... we have a very basic one at the moment but I'd like to upgrade it as he loves his coffee!!

But I am a bit clueless when it comes to the good ones.. I know gaggia is supposed to be a good make as is delonghi... but which model etc etc... I will have prob about £300-350 to spend (thank goodness for returning to work)and want the best I can get... if it comes in cheaper all the better but basically I want a good machine...

So.... any recommendations please??

Thanks in advance x

We have a gaggia classic as well and we ❤️ it. We got it 4 years ago and I think it was around £275.

You do realise that my husband will be popping on on his way to work in the morning if your coffee is nicer than ours? But hey... If you want to take the risk..?

Hell, once I'm done being pregnant I'll be calling in myself! Or better still, you can bring me a cup on Thursdays when you get D from nursery....

I'm wondering whether to get a bean to cup one though....

We replaced our gaggia syncrony compact with a Jura one - we had repairs on the gaggia one every year and it was getting ridiculous. So, now H has a Jura bean to cup machine which looks nicer than the Gaggia and, according to H, makes better coffee (although I doubt this is the case, I think it's all in the set up with these things).

We have the Seaco Vienna SuperAutomatico. It doesn't look fantastic, but the coffee is lovely. You have to use beans with it as it grinds them fresh for each cup. It not only does espresso, but you can make yourself a mug of coffee with it too.

We bought it about 3 years ago, in the Gaggia shop at an outlet village in Braintree.
