Colchester/Ipswich/local brides - IN HERE!

Mrs Whippy, 3 December, 2011 at 10:34 Posted on Planning 0 7

So girls, with the ticker counting down FAR to quickly, I've been thinking I really need to get a dress! I know, one of the first things should've done, but hey better late than never!

Anyway, recommend me your bridal shops. We've only got 2 in our town, and although I haven't been in either, one looks (how do I put this politely?!)more suitable to the older bride. The shop is right opposite where I live, and the dresses in the window are not to my taste, ever! The other shop looks quite 'Gypsy weddings' (sorry if i sound judgmental!).

I prefer Colchester for shopping, but my Mum prefers Ipswich, so either would be good.

Also, we're getting married abroad, so a wide range of 'destination' dresses is a plus!

Bit of a drive for you (about 45mins I'd say), but the Bridal Path in Sawbridgeworth is WONDERFUL. Incredible dresses (independent, collection personally chosen by Jo, the owner) and just fabulous service - I cannot recommend that place enough, really.

Hello Mrsbtob- I got my dress from Abigails on the high Street. You have to book an appointment. I'd go there last as they offer you £100 off it you buy it there and then. I also went to Grace and Lace and although they did have a lovely dress i decided against it. We weren't made to feel special plus because i tried on princess style dress that were big i had to dive into it out of the fitting room where people were looking in the shop part and i didn't like that. Where as at Abigails its only you looking in the dress room and your given a drink etc

Is Bury too far for you? There's this place:

My dress is being designed by Clare Perkins and she has designed a collection which is sold through bury bridal rooms.

Clacton common factory outlet used to have a shop selling bridesmaid dresses & accessories, but think they also had bridal dresses, esp something not too big for a wedding abroad. Would be worth a look as they were inexpensive too.

I used Just A Day in Ipswich. They were great. Plus they are moving into a new biger and better shop in Jan so that will make the experience even better!
