Colour Scheme Help Please

Juicymelons, 22 February, 2009 at 18:55 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hellooooo

Can I pick your brains and get some opinions please.

I absolutely adore pink flowers and after speaking to my florist we are going for a mixture of hot pink/soft pink/dusky pink and ivory flowers with silver bear grass and some sparkly diamantees stuck in between for good measure (can't get enough sparkles imo !!!)

BUT I also adore the colour aqua, I think pink flowers set against aqua bridesmaid dresses would look really striking, but h2b looked at me as though I was insane when I mentioned it !! The aqua colour I am thinking for my bridesmaids also has a slight silvery sheen in it, do you think it would go well together ? I do like bright colours and it's a May Day wedding.

So what do you think ? Will it look fabaroonie or should I go for a pink bridesmaid dress, is it too much pink !! .... decisions decisions !!

Also, all the table centre flowers, my cake (sugar flowers), top table flowers are all going to be a pink mixture, would you do the sash's on the chairs pink or tie them in with the bridesmaids in aqua ?? How can I tie the aqua colour into the day other than the bridesmaid dresses ???

Does all that make sense lol

Thanks

JM

Maybe you could go for a deepar aqua colour for your bridesmaid dresses or a more solid aqua shade (might be easier to match sashes, cravats etc).

As for the sashes you could alternate the chairs one with a pink sash the other with an aqua sash or you could have all the chairs covered with pink sashes and an aqua table runner or vice versa.

Have you got a pic of the aqua colour you're considering? I can see it looking great with some shades, but awful with others!

The only picture I have is on the Kelsey Rose website, it's dress number 11599, but it's slightly lighter than the little square shown. The other colour/shade I liked was tulip, but I am worried about pink overkill !!!

    Hiya,

Pink & auqa would look amazing done right - also different tones of pinks with auqa.

As for your bridesmaids you could have sashes or full aqua dress both would look great. pink and pink would be too much imo ...you're better off with a contrast.

You can use aqua jewellery for you maybe and use aqua & pink pew ends either just organza or organza and flowers?

Tie your aqua through to the even reception by using both pink and aqua sashes, maybe pink flowers on the tables and aqua accesories... here are a few pics i found that should help your H2B to imagine it.

I love aqua and pink together. If it was me i would have aqua in the dresses and cravats with some aqua decoration on the tables in equal amounts to the pink so that one colour doesn't necessarily overbear on the other one.

Have to say i couldn't imagine it when i read your first post but it looks gorgeous in those pictures, what a lovely combination - especially with a touch of the ivory colour too. Keep us updated as you get things in those colours, really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. ?

My dress is ivory (and sparlkly !!), so I think my h2b and my son will probably be in grey suits with ivory or possibly silver and ivory waistcoats with ivory cravats, my tiny bridesmaids will be in ivory with sashes to match big bm's and the ushers in cravats to match the big bm's. Think I will possibly accessorise in silver, silver shoes, jewellery etc ?

    Thanks Sherrie,

I like the idea of hot pink chair sashes with an aqua table runner and pink favour bags for the ladies ?

Yes, you can. I ordered samples of loads of different shades when I was trying to find a match for the pale blue of my bridesmaid dresses. I ordered every possible shade of pale blue and one of the ones I got was a aqua one.

Ho what about using aqua coloured sparkly stem stones in the flowers, my table flowers are all ivory and gonna put purple organza butterflies in with them to bring my purple theme in
