Colour Scheme Ideas

Belle2007, 21 October, 2015 at 12:19 Posted on Planning 0 13

I'm very new to planning and it's still over a year away but I'm getting over excited and can't help myself lol.

We're having a winter wedding and although I love pastel colours such as dusky pinks, peaches and mint I'm thinking they're more for a summer wedding?

The only suggestion my partner has made was blue but I'm not a lover of blue as I find it quite a cold colour.

Any suggestions or ideas? I'm open to most colours apart from reds.

I would love a grey colour for the bridesmaids and then pinks in the flowers but my only bridesmaid is my 8 year old daughter (my 3 year old niece will have a dress to match but probably won't walk up the aisle) and maybe grey is too grown up?

Thanks x

I'm having a winter 6 January wedding in Lapland. It doesn't get more winter than that. I'm wearing a wedding dress with a fur coat and my flowers are very pale pink colours you love with ivory and snow berries with lots of greyish winter foliage. Bit like the picture. I've seen it on Pinterest with brides in fur and snow etc and it's really effective so if you like it go for it. I've also seen lots of more xmassy colours and the more deeper pink and purple colours work well too. Lots on google and Pinterest if you search winter wedding bouquet.

Belle I think these colours look fab, and you can make any colours fit a winter theme. I don't think grey is too old either, I'm having my little niece (she'll be 4) in a grey dress to match my bridesmaids - I'm hoping a bit of a tutu but she's a full on tomboy!!

Thanks. I've seen lots of pics of those sort of colours in snowy wedding pics and it looks lovely. The addition of the winter colour foliage and berries stops it from looking summery. Reminds me of frosty misty cold winter mornings.

If you can't find a nice silvery grey that would suit you could always have a colour like white or cream with a grey sash. There was a lovely purple flower girl dress on here recently and some purple in the flowers look nice in winter too.

Those flowers are absolutely gorgeous!! I have serious envy here.

Maybe I can get away with grey dresses then? My daughter is insisting on not having a 'baby' dress so they grey might be grown up enough for her lol.

Whatever colour you want you can make work for winter trust me lol. I was spoiled for choice when I started looking on google. Winter is a lovely time for a wedding. All those roaring files, flowers with lots of berries, shrugs or furs etc and candles, candles, candles lol. Even the pics with blankets or brollies. Go with the flow of it and you can rock a winter, snowy or rainy wedding.

Just make sure everyone is dressed warm or you won't have happy photos.

Summer has its own advantages tho. Bright days, wear less, nice sunsets. Not to mention you can spend more time outdoor. Offer champagne or pins and have outdoor garden games instead of warming mulled wine and hot chocolate ?

I'm having a winter wedding (end of November)

Our colours are purple and gold and here is my little bridesmaid dress!

I would say go with grey if that's what you want. It's YOUR wedding and you need to be happy with it ??

    Hello

We are getting married in November this year - not long now!

Our colours are reds, pinks, ivory and gold. With all the festive decorations going up we're hoping it will all tie in and look pretty.

Other popular winter wedding colours are silvers & greens or perhaps aubergine/purple tones.

Any of those will look lovely xx

Mixing purple.pinks, burgundy and blues works well for a winter colour scheme as you see from the flower girl dress above. This is one I did a few years ago for a very wintry wedding!:-

I'm also considering a winter wedding and my colour scheme is browns, creams and golds, with a browny/pink bridesmaid dress. I'm having a barn wedding so wanted to stick to a rustic theme.

This is a mood board that I made to show the colour scheme I've chosen

and here is the colour of bridesmaid dress I will be having.

    Hope that helps

I'm having a winter wedding and really wanted to go for the dusky pink/ pastels theme for my bridesmaid dresses but then worried they might look too washed out. I hadn't even thought of grey! That would look lovely!

I felt the same about blue but have opted for Navy for all my BM including 8 year old niece. (The navy matches the men's suits) all my flowers are now dusky pink/ivory and we've got a couple of thistles mixed in to tie in the blue. Wish I had thought of grey as my colours are looking a little too "Spurs" for my liking...think the OH has been sneaky!
