Colour scheme ideas help *UPDATE* FLASH ADDED

Gdm90, 28 January, 2014 at 01:47 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hi all what colour(s) did you have for your colour scheme? I always said I wanted either purple or teal when I got married but can't choose purple as that's the colour my mums going for for her wedding this year so that leaves teal but I've also seen royal blue & can't make up my mind I want a colour that's vibrant & bold against black as I want to be different & have black chair covers rather than the boring white like everyone else & oh2b isn't fussed either way so another decision left to me x

I love teal it's very striking, I'm in the same boat just starting to think about the theme for our day and colours. There was a lovely wedding linked on here where the bridesmaids had on a coral pink which was beautiful against black and white photos that really stood out. I also love forest green! Good luck with your planning x

I'm having dusty pink, coral, rose gold and blush with accents of mint.

Teal and peach looks gorgeous together, you could incorporate elements of pale pink and cream too to add dimension and depth to the colour palette.

Navy, Aqua and White looks cool if you want a beachy, preppy vibe. There are endless colour combos, such a fun part of the planning, I loved going back and fourth with ideas.

I guess I would think about what mood you want to create as the colours you pick will influence this. x

We haven't really got a colour scheme tbh. Bridesmaids are in teal though & OH has a similar colour tie, the groomsmen have navy ties with flecks of teal. But that's as far as a colour scheme goes for me.

My bouquet is multi-coloured with a tiny bit of blue-ish flowers in it.

Im not a bit fan of everything matchy matchy if I'm honest.

I love teal, when we saw our venue for the first time it was dressed for a wedding and the colour scheme was teal, it's so striking.

Our colour is royal blue (OHs football team!) and a tiny bit of champagne here and there.

Here is our reception venue dressed in teal, the photo really doesn't do it justice.

What about tying in the two colour schemes together?!

Teal and royal blue work beautifully together... This way you can mix tones together and have the best of both worlds!

I have to say teal is my favourite colour but that's because I had that at my own wedding... For the girl flowers I tied in a very soft pink but I know fuchsia can look lovely against teal.

    xx

Another vote for teal here! It looks really good with black chair covers too. I wanted to go for this, but we are having to go with white though as they come for free with the venue and couldn't really justify an extra £250 just for black ones...

If you're going with black seat covers then what about a bright colour that pop's - yellow, cerise, aqua, lime ...

These all sound like my own personal nightmares, but I'm trying to think along the lines of black seat covers.

OR ... don't have chair covers, we're having chairs like these:

    Hi,

My daughter had red, black and white with a red wedding dress and black bridesmaid dress, red and black chair sashes and a co ordinated marqee decorated in these colours. It looked stunning.

I went through about 10 different colour schemes until I decided on no colour scheme!

The only things in the same colour are the chair sashes & cravats and they're champagne so fairly neutral. Everything else is a mix of 'spring' colours. Hopefully it will look ok when all together!!

I love teal, but out of that and Royal Blue I think you won't get more vibrant than a lovely royal blue. I had that colour bm dress to wear at my sister's wedding last year. Loved it.

Both are good choices and I like the idea of combining the two. But if it's a one or the other, I would choose the teal. Call me old fashioned, but I think the royal blue is a bit dark for a wedding. X

I always thought I would have gone for purple for a wedding but the first thing we bought was my sister's bridesmaid dress and we were both drawn to Royal Blue and this set our colour scheme. To contrast it I have gone for some lime green chrysanthemum in my bouquet, centrepieces etc. As it's the 01st March we've gone for white tulips instead of roses with germini, lime green spider chrysanths and blue orchids. Bright orange or yellow also look really striking against royal blue.

We had black, white and a colour which was described as 'merlot' on the bridesmaids dresses. You can see a but of it in the runners, this was our marquee halfway through dressing the day before

What about a peacock theme? That includes all the colours you are liking.

Pinterest has loads of inspiration! I would post a picture I found but my tablet is misbehaving at the moment ?

Our colour is mostly red but i'm not worried about everything matching perfectly. Reds my favourite colour so knew it would have been that or OH's fave purple.
Just go with what you want and don't worry about it all matching perfectly, have teal & royal blue with the black if that's what you want Smiley smile

Thanks for your replies Smiley smile so after a quick look around Pinterest & getting ideas for my colour scheme I put together a picture on Instagram (I hope the flash comes up I've never done it before) and want to know what your thoughts are on moody blues/teals & crisp whites are? Also put in a cheeky picture of my dream mori lee dress which I'm going to be trying on this weekend & also bm dresses I've seen along with hair ideas & cakes too x

I think the colours youve flashed go really well together. If you don't like white chair covers you could consider hiring chairs if your venue allows it - hired chairs look lovely.

The venue is being re-decorated just now but I've been in contact with a company & there only going to charge me £2 per chair for cover & sash & for them to fit it all so just going to go with that option plus my venue wanted to charge us £3.75 per chair so it's a saving x
