Colour Scheme Inspiration Needed...

GeordieBarbie, 19 October, 2009 at 09:49 Posted on Planning 0 30

Help... I'm needing some colour scheme inspiration!

So, I really want to carry bright pink gerberas for my bouquet and so need to try and tie this colour in to the scheme so I don't look out of place.

We're having normal suits for the men and buying them ties however this is proving rather difficult! Pink isn't quite the colour at the mo it seems!

Have been mooching today and found some ties I quite like and need opinions on whether they will work. I'm not hung up on the colour scheme having to be completely pink (not sure what colour to put the BMs in yet and may choose a different shade of pink) - I just don't want to stand out too much - opinions welcome!!!

So, here's the ties. Some have pinky colours in and some have lilacly colours. Would these work do you think? For reference i've also included a pic of what I want for my flowers..

.

Thanks!!

I quite like the first one and that would help bring another colour in if you wanted to. The second one is quite nice too but not sure if it would be 'too' pink.

Maybe you could find a couple you like put them with your chosen flowers, take some pics and ponder for a few days, you can always take back the tie (s) you dont chose.

Hmm, not sure, I think the second one goes best with the flowers but it might be a bit too much. Have you had a good look round at styles and deisgns?

I too think the 2nd one will go with the flowers.... however are you having button hole flowers? Also any idea on the colour of the BM's yet?

So, current favourites are No.2 and No.4.

My original idea for BM colour was a darker pink and then them having lighter pink flowers. But i've not really set my heart on anything yet cos was waiting to see what the ties would look like in case they were bluey and so I could mix and match colours. It's all very up in the air at the mo. I want my bright pink flowers but just don't want to clash with everything else :op

I've tried to make a "mood board" thing with my ideas on... will try and post people so you can see what you think.

Thanks for these. We have looked at Debenhams, and House of Fraser, and the Tie Rack, and John Lewis, and Moss Bross, and the Suit place, and TM Lewin, and Ebay.. and... need I go on? I don't really fancy stripes (too boring and officey) and D doesn't want plain really (too boring). The ones I showed above are Ted Baker and just the type of thing we want to go for (D loves paisley but so far we can't find any pink paisley ties). He fancies a Paul Smith suit and tie too.

You know, I didn't think that finding a tie was going to be the most stressy thing about getting married! :oP

Thanks for all your help! I've posted above my current ideas - what do you all think?? Does it work?

Have you considered getting in ties made in the same fabric as your bm dresses when you chooses them? most bridal shops scan do this for you? is your other half having the same coulor tie as everybody else or are you wanting his to be different in some wayy?

Hi - he is going to be different. I never get why the groom wears the same tie as the best man - it's not like the bride matches the bridesmaids :o) I'm letting him have whatever he wants but I imagine he'll go for a tie similar to those above but probably in blues and browns (depends what suit he gets).

Someone did mention getting ties made but we want patterened ties not plain (D has very strong opinions on ties!) ?

There was another tie I'd found i'd forgot to post... I had thought of tie No.2 as my fave but I am liking the the greeny one now...

I really like this one, but then the tie isnt so original and different as the first two. This one could be 'officey'.

I really like the second one you posted too, but in case you want some more options, Marc Wallace has a couple of pink floral ones - would either of these be any good? (They're not cheap though, £39 each!)

    Fingers crossed these pics work!

    Me again!

Thanks for all your comments so far - really helpful and i'm feeling a bit more confident about what I want.

Another question for you. Id I was to chose a paler pink tie and dress I could use the bright colour for the button holes and BM bouquets, But here's the question - it'll look the same as my bouquet - would that be bad?? The BMs bouquest are going to be small but again, just gerberas...

    And the winner is...

We talked it through and although getting a really nice patterened tie was something we thought we wanted (and budgeted for - £50pp) we've decided against it. Main reason being is that although we like the ties, we're pretty sure half the men wouldn't wear them again (either it'[s not quite them or they wear a suit once in a blue moon) and so it seems like a waste of money and a nice tie.

We liked this one but were a blinded by what we thought we wanted. It's weddingy, bright and fun and cheap! The other ties were either £39 or £45 and this one is... £7.99 plus free postage! Wooo - £200 saved ?

So i'm going to order them tonight and hope they are nice when they come!

    Thanks everyone!

    Hi,

I think tie number two is the nicest - you could then perhaps always have pale green / sage bridesmaids dresses. Sounds a bit horrible but my friend had those colours a couple of years ago and it looked great.

I've got this gerbera pic in my mood board, i love them. I'm having hot pink probably with ivory/cream. The men will be having hot pink cravet like mos bros ones and bridesmaids hot pink dresses.

Why dont u have the ties made?

Ties arrived on Thursday! They are really nice - especially for the price!! (They're Mark Phillipppe ties RRP at £24.99 bought from their factory outlet place on EBay for £7.99!)

They're a longer length than normal and slightly wider but nothing too bad. But we're really pleased with them ?

Now got the worry about my Dad's tie. I don't think/want him to match the men - kinda think he should stand out on his own. But my Mother is hapring on and on about his tie already she's doing my head in. I did show her the same tie in grey with pink pattern cos then he would match but be different. D says to just buy the same tie and my Mam says she likes the grey one but fancies getting him a pink shirt too - i'm not sure I like that idea though... So confused.com!

Good news on the ties!! well done for the find.

babrbie I'm a little confused as to who's wearing what now (to decide for your dad) can you recap?

Yeah sure - sorry, I may have confused... ?

We have 5 "Groomsmen" (not one specific Best Man) and they've been asked to wear a dark coloured suit and they will wear the pink tie. I have 2 bridesmaids (possibly one depending on when one of them drops her sprog - due 2 weeks before the day!) who will wear a pink (I think) dress.

D will wear a suit and tie of his choosing - as yet not looked (I don't see why the groom matches the men - the bride never matches the bridesmaids) and so didn't want my Dad to match the men, thought he should stand out too. Just can't decide now...

Humm I think he could wear a pink shirt and grey / other tie, or you could go with some other shade of pink, or a pink waistcoat?
