Colour scheme thoughts/ideas/advice

AutumnRose, 11 November, 2009 at 19:26 Posted on Planning 0 12

As my ongoing BM dress issue continues i'm looking at a few opitions.

My colour scheme is dusky pink and cream with an antique/vintage theme. The men are wearing grey tails with the MOST perfect dusky pink cravats which i just adore, H2B will have a grey waistcoat and best man/ushers are having cream waistcoats.

Origionally i was having pink BM dresses but its proving impossible to find them in the right pink and too expensive to have them made although i can find material in the right colour. Soooooooooo i was thinking of changing the BM dress colour to antique gold.......it fits in the theme and goes with the pink. My venue is a country house hotel and all the rooms we're using have loads of big old pictures and mirrors in antique gold frames and dining room is the hotel restaurant which has lots of similar accents. The other advantage would be that the venues chairs are gold and i'm not sure i can afford to cover them all......it might mean i can maybe just cover the chairs in ceremony room and leave the evening rooms ones gold....???

Do you think it would work?? Would be a zillion times easier and cheaper to find dresses in the gold and i could add other gold touches with ribbon/on tables etc etc. I'm having pink and cream roses and girls were having cream, would that still work do you think??? It'd also make the whole theme a bit less girly which i think H2B would like!!!

I have moments of thinking oooooo that'd be great and other moments of doubt!!!! WHat do you expert ladies think?!

I like it. Gold, pink and cream goes well. I would have gold dresses and pink flowers

I think it would work. Also remember your bridal party should compliment the men in the bridal party also.

That's where my origional thoughts of pink BM dresses came from but it's impossible!!!! I was thinking i could find other ways of matching/complimenting them. If girls have cream flowers, ushers and best man could have cream button holes and me and H2B can have pink/cream flowers/button hole maybe?

Oh yes, perhaps i could rethink the flowers and give the girls pink if their dresses aren't pink......i could still have a mixture.

You can mix & match the colours throughout the Bridal party & table decs. There are lots of combinations & I love the idea of Pink, Cream & Gold, so Vintage.

This was done for a wedding with a similar colour:

We did these for a wedding earlier this year with a similar colour scheme and theme. Originally the BM's were going to be in gold, then changed to pink but we kept the flowers as they were and they looked great, especially with the soft greens etc. We just used more ivory than pink in the BM's bouquets to tip the balance, but the actual flowers were the same throughout the whole scheme.

bygeorge that is almost exactly like the bouquet my florist has designed for me, with the green in there too. I'm really excited about my flowers!

I think it would work and if you think it will be easier then I say go for it. There are enough things to stress about without causing yourself additional stresses

Thanks so much ladies, you've all made me feel much more confident. None of my BMs are very 'pink' people so i think they'll be pleased, despite telling me they'd be happy with whatever i choose!!!
