Colourful flowers? Have I lost it?

I'm one of those dreaded 'purple wedding' brides and to top it off a coloured two tone dress!!! The dress has a lavender bust and back ? I'm one of those dreaded 'purple wedding' brides and to top it off a coloured two tone dress!!! The dress has a lavender bust and back ? Now since wedding planning I've heard sooo much advise from people finding for me; purple invites, purple dresses, purple ribbon, sashes, favours, flowers the list goes on! Okay, yes i like purple, I also like chocolate but i think a diet of nothing BUT chocolate its a bad thing! In rebellion to this I have come to bluntly (but politely) shooting down people mid-sentence when saying they're found a purple so and so. Thou i did resign a little to a purple 'ombre' idea in some areas of the design. So on to flowers. Since there's a light purple in my god-awful dress that i first thought of a purple, light blue and white arrangement. But finding ideas and images for this on the web had left me 'meh' But when i see those bright colourful flowers, I'm in heaven! But I've figured they were more of a summer wedding and i'm a late winter/early spring bride or they'll clash with the dress and other excuses.

But looking at some purple weddings today and I snapped. Cadbury's purple flowers and white flowers simply are too ... not me!!

I mean the invites have purple BUT that because the original game boy advance was purple (fitting huh?) and yes the BM's dresses and cavarts are too But its gonna end there! the table plan is currently (until we change our mind AGAIN) is a mario overworld, so mainly green and blue, favor chest boxes are white like the SS Zelda chests. And the flowers make such a large impact on the look since they'll be the main centrepieces, bouquets and buttonholes. I've let the colour thing get a touch out of hand and dictate the aspects of the wedding to a point I'm uncomfortable! I should be picking things I like! one chance right? So these are what I'm drooling over, am i nuts?

I LOVE the images you posted and i think adding more than just purple and white is a good idea. Just made sure it fit's your theme in terms of look rather than looking like a garden party.

I don't know how to explain this any more than that which i realise isn't that helpful - sorry. As someone said they need to have an 'edgey' look to suit what you are doing.

Can't wait to see your pictures from the day!

Thanks DrBuffles, the venue is rather brightly coloured and the video games are the name of the game for colours aren't shunned here Smiley laugh If me and the florist get the colour balance right (tones, hues and shades) we should be fine! I know some colour theory so hopefully fingers crossed it'll go down well!

Sorry, I've only just seen your reply!

Yes, Marilyn. She was recommended by hitchers on here, OH and I met with her and immediately knew we wanted her to do our flowers.

I'm absolutely chuffed to bits with everything Marilyn has suggested for us & how she will re-create your bouquet but with one or two amendments to flowers in season.
