I would have just ivory & gold and if you really wanted colour maybe add a earthy green like the walls int the breakfast room?

I personally would use Golds & Ivory with Sage Green. Maybe add pink into the flowers to add some warmth to it as the room is quite dark. Like this:

I was kinda trying to stay away from just gold as my sister had ivory and gold for her wedding. I was picking up on the red in the carpet and curtains and thinking of putting this with golds. Also i love green and its my colour but wouldn't really suit my sis who is chief bridesmaid and want her to happy x

If you want to keep away from gold, and go with red. How about making gold deeper, like mocha, coffee, champagne - that kind of spectrum

    this is my BM dress

I am now also thinking of changing my colour also - arrhhh

Fabulous venue! Is it in Yorkshire? Looking at the carpet and curtains, it seems to be more terracotta in the carpet than red but that maybe just the photo. Terracotta with gold and sagey greens would work well. If you went for red, I would go for what I call a "right, royal, regal red" ! Definitely not too dark a shade of red as the room is fairly ornate so it needs something to lift the room. Not sure what flowers you had in mind but coral roses look gorgeous with gold.

Brown is under-rated. While most people steer clear of it, with the right shade it can look stunning. As a question, what colour are your eyes, hair and skin tone?

As both room are fairly busy and speak for themselves I would be tempted to just stick with classic white. I think this can look so gorgeous and classy x

The venue I married in had very similar colours & I opted for Golds, Ivory & Champagne:

Honestly - I never considered what colour my venue was when choosing a colour scheme.

My advice would be to go and try on bridesmaids dresses and see what you and they like the look of.

I chose my colour scheme as I wanted bright fuscia gerberas and pink shoes. As long as I could have them, I didn't mind what the colour scheme was for the men and bridemaids.

Hi, have been at work all day, just got in and read your thoughts.

Green is a no go for bridesmaids.

Browns and golds i like but really DO NOT want H2B in a brown suit.

My skin is fair, i'm a red head and i have blue eyes.

If i had bridesmaids in gold and me in ivory do you think it would wash me out too much with me being fair?

This is me and sis (chief bridesmaid) Sorry about dodgy pic, a little tipsy lol

You could have both you and the bridesmaids in ivory and the bridesmaids have a green sash if you were comfortable with that?

Personally I'd keep it simple and go for ivory and gold and have some greenery in your flowers to lift the room. Like someone else said, the room could do with lifting a little so I'd use a nice bright green in your greenery and maybe some gold chair sashes if you are having chair covers. Then I'd use things like gold candelabra, but classy not brassy IYSWIM!

Totally agree. I couldn't have cared less what matched the venue as I wanted something that suited my bridesmaid but then I wasn't into colour co-ordinating everything for my wedding. I don't mean anything clashed but matching everything just wasn't what I wanted.

PerfectGems, i have just seen your table centres on other flash, they are lovely, do you mind me asking how much you paid?

As for my colours its stressing me out. I would like Cadbury purple but just don't want it to look out of place and i'm thinking it probably would. GRRRRRRRR!

FREE!! Part of the package with the venue but not long after we booked they changed their package which doesn't include the flowers, chair covers or sashes so we were very lucky. Honestly no colour would look out of place and it's only my opinion but I think when wedding party colours are choosen to match the venue it can all look a bit over done and samey where people kinda blend into the background without standing out in their own right. Does that make sense?

That's why my flowers and table linen as well as chair sashes and favours were all neutral colours.

I don't want to offend anyone who picks everything to match but it's just not my preference. Cadury Purple is a really popular choice this year and it was my first idea for a bm dress until I went with the colour that suited her the best. x

You may have to go onto my boards and rose pink.

    Hope it works

Love it! I like the fuchsia as it brings a modern element to an old fashioned venue. I think mochas, golds etc in some ways suits your venue too much....be individual and the pink is gorgeous.

    Hi,

When I chose my colour scheme I didn't even think about the room at our venue. It was just what I wanted.

I think that if you want cadbury purple you should go with that!!! I think it would go fine in the reception room and if you are worried about it clashing in the ceremony room, keep it quite simple in there.

Go with what you want... that's what I reckon :-)

By the way... is that picture you have put on of you and your sister from Tankersley Manor? It looks very similar if it isnt! That's where I'm getting married, but in the the Tankersley Suite.

    xx

PG - Completely agree with you!

Once you're sat down in your seats having dinner, your guests won't see the colour of the walls or the colours of the bridesmaids. Also, don't forget, your wedding guests will wear a variety of colours and none of them will clash.

I honestly believe your best bet is to just go shopping and get your girls to try loads of dresses on and look at loads of colours. Different materials look different in different colours plus they will suit certain colours and not others. It could be that you see a dress in a particular colour and decide on that.

    Good luck!

I agree with GB. I remember my fiance was a bridesmaid a few years back. For some reason I was dragged along during the dress shop for the 'male opinion' even though I didn't know a male opinion came into it at all. There were more colours than I could imagine. The idea to begin with was a pale blue, after dress trying a dark green was chosen. You really never can tell without matching colour and style to the person physically. I remember I did have a good laugh that day though, my fiance came out wearing a white dress and looked like the girl from the Ring.

    What a stunning venue!

I'd go for light colours - pastels or golds as the walls and carpets are dark.
