Comlongon Castle

soontobeEvison, 13 August, 2010 at 16:01 Posted on Planning 0 4

I've just booked to get married at Comlongon Castle in 2012, I was wondering if anyone else was getting married here too?

I'd be interested to hear about which suppliers you are using etc?

?

I've just booked my wedding st comlongon castle, on November 14th this year, we booked as part of a package with the Gretna Wedding Beureau

i'm trying to find some reviews/comments about other peoples weddings here but i can't seem to find much.

are you at the castle all day or did you book a package like we did?

    (congratulations btw!!) ?

No, I looked for reviews too, not many lying around!

Wow- 14th November- the pressures on!

We did orginally look round with Gretna Wedding Bureau too, but we went back and decided to book the full day with Comlongon as we just loved the place, and coming from manchester, it's easier for everyone to be in one place! Where are you having your reception?

We got our confirmation through yesterday for our booking- my fiancee is trying to persuade me to have the owls (they swoop in and drop off the wedding rings!!)

    Congratulations to you too!

Wow! can they get real owls to do that? lol!!

we're having the cermony and photos at comlongon and then going back into gretna to the Gables Hotel for our reception, there'll probably be a max of 25 coming up with us, we live in essex so we're going to wait until the end of jan to do a big reception party, so that everyone who can't make it can get there, (and i get to wear my dress twice!) otherwise it's going to be too close to christmas to do anything,

we origionally paid for a minister to marry us but with it being a sunday we couldn't get one so have to have a registrar instead, thats the only hiccup we've had so hopefully it should all run smoothly now!!, i'll let you know if anything else comes up lol!! x x

have you been to see the venue yet? my nans going to visit relatives in carslilse and blackburn next week so i'm sending her up to investigate!! x

Hi Vikki04, having stayed at the Gables Hotel (once when we went to Gretna to suss everything out before we got married and 2nd time when we were playing in Gretna went back to the Gables as it's a nice hotel), I would recommend it. We played in there as recently as a couple of months ago. There are actually 3 venues from memory for different weddings, and there were 3 on when we were there so it can get quite busy. But the food's good and the people are nice.

Hope you have a lovely time there. Good luck.

And also SoontobeEvison at Comlongon. It's been far too long since we've been there, so can't really remember it.

    Congratulations to you both

Apparently so! They do all sorts of added extras! Knowing my luck the owl would fly past and poo on my head!

I think I saw the Gables in their brochure and I think my auntie had her reception there about 10 years ago- looks very nice. Lucky you getting to wear your dress twice! have you bought it yet? I've not even started looking!

I've been up to see it twice now, it really is gorgeous, the photos don't do it justice really! I was there about three weeks ago and they'd just finished landscaping some of the garden and the ground floor room of the keep. Are you getting married in the castle keep or somewhere else on the grounds? Apparently there are a few different locations on the grounds they can do the ceremony xx
