Confetti

KittenCake, 5 April, 2013 at 09:55 Posted on Planning 0 17

Is anyone else here providing confetti for their guests?

A little while back someone gave me quite a bit of confetti, so I thought it might be nice to provide confetti for our guests. At a few weddings I have been to lately nobody has remembered to bring any. However, there wasn't quite enough confetti to go around so I had to buy a bit more to top it up. I had it posted to work and when it arrived my boss said he thought it was 'pathetic' to provide your own confetti. Does anyone else think this or should I just ignore him and assume none of my guests will be so judgmental?

    What. a. nobber!

This is why MEN and wedding planning don't mix! ? How would it be 'pathetic'?? Rudeness.

You may want to check that your venue allows it though; some don't.

Your boss sounds like a prize idiot!! Yep it's a great idea, not as many people think to bring confetti now, so definitely worth buying a few boxes yourself ?

I'm going to supply my own. At the weddings I've been to recently not many people have brought it and I love it. I'm having dried petals though so they will bio-degrade. Plus it will give my nieces something to do when they hand it out to guests.

Wow, yeah I would say typical guy there.

yeah people forget that stuff. I would agree people hear saying double check with your venue. I'm thinking of ribbon streamer and flags (saves mess)

Thanks for your replies, you have really re-assured me that I am not being some kind of crazy overzealous bridezilla wanting to make sure everyone who wants confetti has it.

I try no to talk about my wedding at work because he is so negative about everything. I pity his daughter when she gets married!

My venue are fine with confetti so long as it is biodegradable, which my confetti is (mixture of dried and frozen rose petals) so that's all good.

Thanks again, think I just needed a dose of positivity Smiley smile

What a dickhead boss! It's pretty common to provide your own confetti, I've seen it done, and I've also seen weddings where only one guest remembered to bring confetti so it's fine to provide your own. Sometimes it's also to ensure your confetti meets tghe venue regulations. Sorry I can't believe your boss said that...

As so many venues have differing rules about confetti now I think guests tend to err on the side of caution and leave the confetti at home. It makes sense to bring your own so you're guaranteed the pretty confetti shot.

My cousin and friend both supplied their own confetti at their weddings - not pathetic at all! Get a BM or usher to hand it out before the photos and you're sorted. Good one for being organised and thinking of it!

I wouldn't take confetti as not all places allow it so I think it's brilliant if you provide it (which I will do also) plus it will be in the colour you want (control freak in me) :-)

Can I ask where did you buy your confetti from and how much was it? I have been looking into buying confetti and making confetti cones but it seems to be working out a lot more expensive than I thought it would x

If you want confetti (old style paper) then get some in just in case and you can hand it out on the day.
But the main reason for supplying it yourself is that the venue does not like it and will tolerate biodegradable only, this is when you will supply it as a rule as your Granny can get a box of confetti from the post office on the way to the wedding but not dried petals. When only 1 or 2 people bring any, you do your best to pass it around but for a nice shot but you need lots for it to look any good.
Have look here for some confetti advice

You are right it does seem expensive. Luckily for me I was given mine by a friend who didn't want it. I just had to buy one tub as a top up from Amazon. It was £10ish for a pint of frozen petals which seems like a lot to me....

Mine cost 14p per cone for 48. I brought some paper dollies cut them in half and filled with bio-degardable confetti brought off ebay, they do look hand made but they still look quite pretty x
