Confetti

cw2b, 20 May, 2014 at 17:38 Posted on Planning 0 8

I would like a photo of OH and I with lots of confetti but I'm not sure what to do. Our photographer has said we need lots of confetti to get a good shot and from her experience, not many people bring it. So I'm thinking:

1. I could make some paper cones and fill them with confetti and put them in a basket. But for this, I think I would need to add something on the order of service saying something like 'please take a cone of confetti on your way out' and I would need to make sure best man and usher help give it out. OH thinks this idea is silly!

2. Buy a few boxes to give to my mum and OH mum and they can pass a box onto people at the time.

3. Hope people buy their own

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I'm doing bags of confetti, like paper sweetie bags, that will have a seal on to stop it spilling everywhere and then we'll put a bag on each chair. Sorted Smiley smile x

Oh that's a good idea! I could attach a bag on each order of service! Thanks for the idea!

I've bought two big bags of dried rose petals from ebay and I'm filling little organze drawstring bags with them and putting them on the chairs at the ceremony, one for each person because I want a really good confetti shot too. I've never taken confetti to a wedding, never thought of it.

I might put a little tag on each bag saying 'please don't throw until the photographer tells you' because I don't want it thrown straight after we get married, there's a particular shot in a particular area that I want x

We're making confetti cones and putting them into a basket. I hadn't really thought about getting everyone to use it at the same time though so will probably talk to our TOG for some ideas.

Hi, I used Shropshire petals, ordered 5 litres which cost forty something quid, then ordered organza bags from ebay, 100 for £7. This filled over 85 bags generously. One of the ushers will be handing them out :-). There's lots of advice on their website too on what size petals will give what effect and a petal calculator so you know how much to order. How much will depend on how many guests you have and weather you want just the ladies to through it or everyone. I spoke to my tog and she said we could easily just have ladies, this would have been approx 40 people but we thought what the hell and bought for everyone!. Good luck x

Glad I saw this. I just assumed most people would bring confetti.

She is right, wedding guests often forget confetti - I suggest to buy some and give one of the bridal party the job of making sure everyone has some.

You can put it in a large tin (cake tin) and get someone to pass the tin around so everyone takes a handful. Alternatively pretty paper cones are very in at the moment and look super cute.

Another idea - have you go flower girls? if you have could you get someone to hand them prefilled baskets of confetti, they could then be in charge of handing it out and would look super cute.

If you are looking for confetti I do sell it in my "all things wedding" online shop http://www.gmcweddings.co.uk/store/c6/Confetti.html

Let us know what you decide to do! Smiley smile

For making your own cones a good little "cheat" is to use paper doillies
