Confetti

future.mrs.c, 6 June, 2014 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi everyone,

Is it just me or do other people think confetti is pretty expensive??

I really want the 'confetti shot' so been looking to order some. Plus my venue will only allow biodegradable.

Has anyone found any bargains?

Thank you

It does seem pretty expensive - I am getting 4l from ebay for about £25.00 - I have bought some small organza bags to put this in for £5 for 100 too. Not sure how many people this would cover but enough to get a good confetti shot I hope. I also have bubbles as I always think that makes a good photo too ?

I may be going slightly over the top!

Have you checked that your family are not buying confetti? I mentioned this to my mum and she said that she thought the family buy the confetti, so she has already sorted it.

You will probably find that some guests bring confetti, but not all. The best thing I've seen is a guest who turned up with 4 confetti canons! They were amazing!

Sometimes you just don't get enough people throwing enough confetti at the same time. Confetti canons solve that problem!

Love the sound of confetti canons! Just googled them and sent a link to one of my bridesmaids!

The only problem with confetti canons is that people often don't set them off at the same time or aim them right so they shoot straight over the couple. That said you usually get some great photographs of the reaction!

I spent ages weighing up different confetti petal options. All a complete waste of time really.

One of my main worries was whether dried petals would be too small and bitty and get stuck in my curly hair. In the end it took my mum all of about a minute to pull the little bits out.

I did go with natural uncoloured petals though, as I'd heard that dyed petals or coloured tissue-paper confetti (biodegradable, heck of a lot cheaper, but much more risky) could colour-run in damp weather and stain the white dress.

FYI, one person did bring confetti to our wedding. Not sure who, but I saw some white tissue paper type stuff come at me from one angle, lol. So that was one out of 100. Luckily it was white, after all my risk-adverse-colour-staining research, eh? ?

My photographer warned me about colour running confetti on a damp day, as I explained to them I would like the confetti shot. I'm so happy for the heads up as I know if I got an ounce of colour on my dress I'd be seriously annoyed. The confetti I've found is a bio-degradable one luckily it too is in white the even cooler thing is it's snowflake shape so that will be one of purchases nearer the time as they state it only lasts for so long.

Or I found this which is price-based on how many guests your having.

I'm an English teacher and love reading, so I wanted to recreate something I've seen doing the rounds on Pinterest - book confetti. I bought 3 paperbacks of my favourite novel (3 for £5), organza confetti bags from ebay, and a confetti punch from hobby craft. All in all I spent £10. I have done two of the books and it looks like it will be plenty for my small wedding of 30/35 people. It is cost effective, but it takes time. If you get into the rhythm you can punch while you watch TV though! Something to think about? Perhaps something other than books? Here's my shoe box after one novel:

We didn't provide any but most guests brought some so we still had the confetti shot.

The hole punch can punch more than one page at a time. I imagine with tissue paper it would do a lot in one go. Book pages worked out at about 6 or 7 pages per punch, but if you cut the book into strips of 7 pages then you can go punch, punch, punch, punch, punch etc all along the strip and end up with lots done in one go. Also, sharpen the punch by cutting tin foil after a while.

It was time consuming, but I imagine it would be quicker than scissors.

You will find that most venues will only allow biodegradable stuff. I found the best confetti shots seem to be with the freeze dried petals and when guests can grab a handful, so just put a load in a basket and get an usher to pass it around. That way, guests don't have to carry anything either.

The confetti canons are brilliant, just remember to tell the people that are going to fire them off how to use them and where to aim.?
