You could always make your own out of sheets of music for example?

They are a lovely idea, but a few things that might be an issue:

    - check that your church/venue allow confetti/rice/petals etc as mine didnt allow anything at all, so had bubbles instead

    - Being a cone shape they cant be put down on a table without the contents spilling out. Not a major issue, but a bit annoying when you are fumbling for your camera or transporting them etc

    - make sure whatever paper & filling you use doesnt bleed the colour/ink when it gets wet. At a friends wedding she used a red crepe paper. It sprinked with rain & the red colour went on everyones hands & several shirts & dresses- awful.

We're using little organza bags filled with home made confetti from a good friends rose and hydrangea (I think!) garden...

The bags were about £2 so not a big spend really!

Most of the time when I come across cones it will be by the venue door in a basket, but make sure that a flower girl or someone will be there to hand it out on the way out, otherwise your guests will just walk past it.
But if that is done then it has to be thrown straight away because in a cone - as has been said you can not put it down and also being open it gets spilt easily.
Loose petals in a basket for guests to grab a hand full never work well either as it tends to clump in the hand and comes at you as a ball.
I would always suggest (at non church weddings) that the best way to organise things is to but the cones in the basket out of sight and leave it until you have had a drink and a chat and then send the flowergirl around with the basket to hand out.
A very effective technique I have seen to make cones is to roughly tear along the top edge of the paper, the more parchment like the paper the better.Or you can use a hand made paper, Not sure how much that will all be, I like the music printed on the paper idea - that way you could even get away with a normal cream colour inkjet paper.
One point to perhaps think about though is that, so many times after the confetti has been thrown I see the wonderfully made cones trampled and muddy on the grass, and in the bin. At £2 each you will have at least 20 and thats £40 and then what do you do with your basket.
And it doesn't matter how much you try to plan things and say -no confetti, say you are having dried petals, your auntie will still show up with that blue box of confetti that she has got from the news agents on the way to your wedding. So you may as well not bother and let your guests pay for it, as they will anyway.

I think so... I'm going to make them out of paper doilies, you seem to be able to buy a pack of them for £3-£5, and you only need half a doily per cone, so it doesn't seem too pricey. I haven't been to a wedding where they've had anything else, so rather naievely I didn't really think there were other options, but I suppose there must be! I have found though that the confetti seems to stick in the bottom of the cone, so not all of it actually gets out into the air.
