Cordoning off the road

Yell0wsnow, 20 August, 2014 at 14:08 Posted on Planning 0 4

The wedding car company has asked that we Cordon off 2 car lengths so they can park on the road. Are there any legal barriers preventing this?

We live on a one way road with parking on either side of the road and we obviously need to have space outside our house for them to park, and don't want to risk there being no space on the day.

The way around this is for you or others you know to park there and so then you can easy move when your car comes, so you get the space you needed with no issues

I had thought of that, but everyone who has a car that lives near by will be going in wedding transportation so cannot use them plus i am without a car at the moment.

I was going to tell my neighbours, I don;t think they will mind though....

Chat with your neighbours, I think that is the best and most respectful way around it. The space only need to be coned off for a little bit of time, I assume? So it is not exactly going to be a major inconvenience. If they have to park in a pay and display for an hour, it will probably only cost you a quid for them to park there! It is for your wedding day, so I am sure they will understand!!

We did this when we were moving house. I put notices up on the wheelie bins the day before and put them out on the pavement saying 'we're moving in tomorrow (date) and would appreciate it if space could be left for our big van' Nobody parked there. Maybe have a chat with neighbours and put some notices out. All you can do is ask!

Well I spoke to the Police, who said it was nothing to do with them and to speak to the council. Spoke to them and they said there are no issues. I will send a letter to the neighbours a week before to let them know. s
