Cost of Flowers?

Sparkle2015, 22 August, 2014 at 17:04 Posted on Planning 0 5

So, with a year to go, I am finally tackling the flowers!

I have NO idea how much to budget for flowers? I have a florist coming round tomorrow to discuss, but would like to have a rough idea what others are paying so I can compare.

I am looking for a bridal bouquet of Calla Lillies, 2x smaller bridesmaids bouquets to match mine, 7 calla lilly button holes and a small corsage for my niece. I know it "how long is a piece of string" but any ideas of what you have had and the cost would be excellent. Thanks! Smiley laugh

    Our first florist enquiry couldn't quote exactly as it depended on exactly the type of flower we wanted, but after much probing it was £****. We are paying about £900 through a Flower farm for the same package and more!

    We went to the florist today and have been quoted £350 for the following;

    1 bridal teardrop bouquet, 2 x adult bridesmaid bouquets, 13 button holes, 4 corsages, 1 top table centrepiece and 2 posies to put on our grandparents graves.

    The flowers in the bouquets, centrepieces and posies are; Calla Lillies, Roses, Freesias, Hydrangea and Gypsophila. The 13 buttons holes are Calla Lillies and Hydrangeas, with the 4 corsages as roses and freesias!

    Hope this helps! x

    I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as you regarding costs etc. But there are ways to make them cheaper - e.g. button holes are quite simple to make yourself. We are doing all the reception flowers ourselves - from OH grandparents garden and sweet peas from my parents allotment.

    I might be totally insane and therefore don't copy me but we're doing all the flowers ourself (me and my mom) neither of us have any floristry experience! We're going to the flower wholesale market on the Wednesday (this is what the lady suggested so they are open by the Saturday) (ordering the week before so she defo has what I want)

    I've budgeted £450-£500 and I want as many flowers as possible (hoping they might do a cash deal!) my only specification is white ones. I need to make my bouquet, 5x bridesmaids, 6x buttonholes and then lots of the tables and to make arrangements around the barn I think if I paid somebody else I'd be looking £1500ish! X

    I've paid £375 for all mine.

    This was for mine, 2 bridesmaids, mother's corsage, 4 button holes, mob buttonhole, 1 artificial for my 3 year old, top table arrangement 3ft, 6 birdcages filled with flowers and delivery and set up. The flowers are mostly roses so I think I got a great deal x

    Depends on whether or not you want to add centrepieces / top table arrangements to the budget but I would say on Hitched your AVERAGE (and I coin the term loosely) is:

    £100 Bride

    £60 Bridesmaid

    £10 Buttonholes

    Yes, a piece of string is very vague indeed... I think Calla Lilies are definitely in the higher price bracket. But this is as good-a starting point as any. If you come under, £££ in, if you go over, you're a nut job like me Smiley laugh xxx
