Cost of photographer???

Nikki125, 9 September, 2013 at 14:43 Posted on Planning 0 40

Hi guys, I was just wondering (if you don't mind me asking) how much roughly you are all paying for your photographer and what that price includes? I have fell in love with some work that a photographer does and his style of photographs but not sure how the price compares to others?

Photographers prices vary GREATLY, but I'd say the average cost is £1200-£1800 price range. You can get cheaper, and you can get more expensive, and what they offer will vary just as much. Much better to go with someone who's images you love and cost a bit more than taking a cheap option you may regret. Really it just depends how important having lasting images in a style you love is to you, some people allocate a large amount of budget to it, whilst others really don't.

We paid £1,750 and got a pre wedding shoot and a disc of the photos, our TOG for the full wedding day and we will get a disc with all the photos on it after the wedidng. We met with TOG's who were much much cheaper and they just didn't compare to this guy. However i think it all depends on your connection with the person, you have to like them/ they like you as they are going to be with you on one of the most important days of your life.

We paid £1800 for two photographers who covered from bridal prep through to about 11pm I think (although one of them left after the first dance). That included a pre-wedding shoot (including one framed picture), a disc of around 450 images and an album or photo book of 60 pictures (which I haven't picked yet, although our wedding was 9 months ago.....)

As others have said it varies greatly, if you love his style and get on well with him and can afford him I'd just go for it. It isn't really the same and buying a product, you can't really get the same elsewhere for cheaper type thing, usually photographers will have different personalities so some may fit better into your day then others.

It varies a lot depending on skill set of the photographer. Smiley smile A couple that came to the studio over the weekend and booked said they had been to 4 photographers and they all seemed bossy and wanted to take over their day, I think you really have to meet them to be honest.

WE have a photographer coming round for a chat on Sat. Saw his work at a bridale fayre last week and was really impressed with him and wife team, his energy and his photos he had on show.

As I understand it we are getting a pre wedding shoot of our choice (the top of a mountain is a no no but the bottom of one can be arranged the photographer assured us) The photo of our choice will be brought to the wedding with a mount which can be written on by our guests. It will then be taken away (before the alcohol flows too freely!) and we get it fully framed in with the package. They call it a living guest book?. We get bride and groom getting ready photos (wife with the girls, him with the boys) all the usual wedding photos. 2 photographers who stay with us until after first dance and a slide show of the day time (set to music) for the evening guests also an album of approx 90 photos of our choice. All for the price of £1110. It sounds wonderful. The proof is in the pudding as they say!

We're paying £1,150 for two TOGS, an album, high resolution disc of images and low resolution copy for social networking. There was a pre-photo shoot offered but I asked this to be swapped for the high resolution disc so we could make copies if we wanted to.

We're only paying £225 as I'm only bothered about having photos of the ceremony however when I spoke to the photographer he was lovely and said he will still take some at the hotel for same price as its not far from church. Our price includes all images on a disc and if we want an album it's an extra £95.

I was lucky though as he had an offer on when we booked him

    Bonus for you there then.

Perhaps, maybe, it could be, possibly, that the reason they are willing to come to the hotel for free is because they want or need extra stuff for their portfolio

Yeah I think your right as he did ask if he could use some of the photos for his portfolio which I dot mind. Both him and his wife are photographers but have worked for companies and have just recently set up their own business last year so he is trying to get more clients and add to his portfolio but his work he brought with us was really good and he was very friendly and understanding so I'm happy he also said he didn't live to far from the hotel so that may be another reason lol

Make sure your Vicar allows Photography during the ceremony. I'd hate for you to be paying for only this part to be captured and then the Photographer not have permission.

I had no idea of prices when I found mine. In the past when I had seen photographers sites I was like meh.

The day I seriously started looking found a couple of sites that I just didn't get a feel for and then I found our photographers site and it was wow! No prices listed but I didn't care.

And believe me I am all about saving money and comparing prices on anything I buy. Originally I wanted just the cheaper package as I didn't care about him being there in the morning but he only offers the full package now including engagement photos ( which again, wasn't something I was fussed with having) and it was £1195 for all day coverage and reception and engagement shots in high quality digital both colour and black and white. Photo albums are a seperate charge.

I am so happy with his work, my Fh and I get on so well with him. And like I said in a previous post, at the end of the day, besides memories what do you have? People pay so much for wedding reception venues for a few hours that goes in a blink of the eye. I personally would cut back on everything else rather than risk crappy photos.

Don't go on price, go on feel, if they have the style that speaks to your heart, that makes you excited rather than meh it's alright and at £ 500 it will do. A friend got us to look at this really ritzy photographers website. Even the locations were posh. But I thought his photographs lacked soul. They were just dead, no matter how lovely the backdrops were.
