It is very difficult to say as it's dependant on a lot of factors. What sort of venue are you looking at? Are you having just reception or ceremony/reception there? How many guests will you have? Are you having a formal sit down meal or a buffet? Where are you in the country?

It's very much a "how long is a piece of string?" type of question.

    Sarah xx

I think the only way to find out how much to budget is to do what we did, we looked on the net and sent off for loads of brochures from a wide variety of venues from the big castles to the small local hotel.

It gave us a good idea of what people charged and at the same time helped us to decide what we wanted from a venue.

It varies massively depending on what you want, as others have said best thing to do is get brochures. Minimum numbers for certain times of the year can push your budget up. Prices can also be a little cheaper outside the traditional wedding season.

Ours is a four star hotel - in October, including ceremony there, 43 day guests - mid range 4 course meal, welcome drinks, 2 glasses of wine and sparkling for toasts, flowers for tables, 125 evening guests with cheapest buffet menu, DJ, comes in at just under £4000, this also includes honeymoon suite on wedding night.

As everyone else has said *how long is a piece of string*

We are having it in a 5* hotel on a Saturday in July, 4 course meal plus reception drink, sparking wine to toast and couple of glasses of wine for 70 people plus evening buffet for 100 people is coming to £6200

I saw such differing prices while i was looking around. Some charged for hire, others didnt etc etc. We are paying aprox £4750 for a 3 course meal for 70 and an eve buffet for 150. this isnt including any drinks. Altogether i think it will be about £6000.

We are having 80 in the day including drink package( £10 per person), BBQ ( £15 per person) and pudding (£6.00 per person). Room hire for the actual wedding ( £400). Childrens outdoor play things(£45). In addition we are having 3 bottles of wine on table. Then at night we are having 150 people serving Bacon and pork rolls ( £6.oo per person) and chunky chips( £1.75 per person) and using their in house DJ(£225). We are upgrading our room( £150). All childrens meals and stuff is half price. Think it worked out around £4669.

One place we liked was £4000 just for the venue without food or drink.

    Hope this helps x

As everyone else said, it depends on where you are and what you want. We looked at several venues in our area. The one we have chosen is the cheapest, although the personal service offered was the reason we chose it.

We dont have an exact quote yet, because we dont have final numbers, have not finalised the menu, and because they will work to our budget and on the day we can decide to serve more wine (and we dont have to pay till after)

We have worked out that it will come between £3500 and £4000. THe venue is a local posh restaurant with a function room. That is for 65 people (including us), pimms on arrival, 3 course meal plus coffee & chocolates. Enough wine for 2 glasses per person, plus bottled water & orange juice for those who dont drink. In the evening we will have another 60 people so will be having a buffet for 80. Kids are having smaller portion of the adult meal. Champagne is included for the toasts. We have exclusive use of the place for the whole day too.
