c/o/t have you turned the heating on yet??

lovelygirl, 20 October, 2010 at 15:09 Posted on Planning 0 27

So far I have not turned on the heating in the flat and have been snuggling under fleecy blankets and grabbing hot water bottles, not sure how much longer it will be before i do, but at the moment i am thinking every penny counts and going with my mums mantra "put another jumper on you wimp!" So have you put the heating on or when are you planning on putting it on.....?

Mine went on about a week ago! but only for a couple of hours in the morning and then it goes off all day until we get home from work and school. I held out for as long as i could to help save money!

Yes,, but the radiator in my office downstairs has a leak, so I can't have it on. I am desperate to get all my editing done before the end of December so I don't have to stay in here more than a few hours a day working, lol. I am known for wearing my coat around the house when it starts to get cold, I am still a warm weather person, a lifetime in a tropical climate never prepared me for actual winter seasons.

I'm ashamed to say that I got one of those slanket things last year to cuddle up on while watching tv, LOL. They are crap tho, don't bother.

Thats the problem once we put ours on we need to keep the temperature pretty constant as we have guinea pigs that live in our lounge (my furbabies) and they do not cope well with large changes in temperature - bless them I keep looking at the weather forecast and thinking that it will be in the next few days... really need to buy a thermometer for the house...

Mine has been on for a couple of weeks now but in all fairness my car did start telling me it was 1.5 degrees this morning with a flashing snow flake so i think its justified x

We've not only had the heating on for a couple of weeks, but we have a wood burning stove in the front room and it went on last night too. I'm like a lizard, completely incapable of creating my own body heat, plus I always think it's about 10 degrees colder than it actually is. (I'll have 2 jumpers on and a fire and a blanket and the OH will be in a t-shirt and shorts!) I had to defrost my car to get to work this morning though, so I think the fire was justified!

I don't get a choice! The landlord controls the heating centrally in the block of flats we live in!

The heating is included in the rent here in Switzerland... Thankfully they turned it on two weeks ago, which is a good thing as I can now see snow on the mountains out the window....

Ours has been on for at least a month!!

Wooden floors downstairs and draughty french doors makes one cold lounge, even though upstairs then feels tropical!! lol

Ours has been on for ages lol, since last month. I like it on for a good few hours in the evening when we get home and when we get into bed. We don't have it on when we're not here.. The cats snuggle up on our bed etc and don't need it.

I'm a tight a**e lol, so am holding off for a little while longer, still in hill billy county it is still relatively mild.... (Norfolk, where they all talk funny and drive way too slow for my liking).

Thankfully, our house is a newish build so is pretty good at being draught free, and as we are terraced seem to get the heat from either side lol.....

Still want to move tho lol.

Ours has been on since September and we've had to put the winter duvet on the bed already! The seal on the windows in our bedroom has gone and its like a gusty freezer! Might start keeping the milk on the window ledge!

We have storage heaters so have to decide a day in advance how cold we're going to be!The one in the front room is on, mainly for the animals! The one in our bedroom went on over the weekend but we've turned it off during the week as we're not there much.

Autumn duvet is on though (9 tog)

Mine has been on a couple of weeks, but we are keeping it turned quite low at the moment.

Changed a draughty window in the living room this summer, so it feels a lot warmer anyway.
