Cotswold brides?

YellowDuckie, 8 July, 2013 at 21:30 Posted on Planning 0 27

Hi there,

Anyone else getting married in the Cotswolds? Thought we could start our own thread (as long as its not just me!). We're getting married in Burford in April 2014.

Currently looking for a florist if anyone has good recommendations?! And somewhere good to get my nails done the day before the wedding.

Cx

Smiley smile Good old Brizzol lol.

How come you don't want to get married in Cardiff? or have you always had your heart set on a certain place since you were little.

I originally wanted to get married in Avening Church, near Tetbury as my mum got married there, but I had my heart broken when they told me the vicar had retired and they don't have anything available as sharing a vicar with Tetbury.
I had my heart set on it since I was about 13!!

Nibley house is fantastic though, I fell inlove with the ceilings haha, I smiled the whole way round!!

I was going to view the barn, but when I went to see Nibley house I didn't want to look anywhere else Smiley smile, to be honest I had pretty much made up my mind before I even entered the front door!

Have you got much else to plan?

I'm another Cotswold bride and I'm getting married in exactly a month (eek!). we're getting married in our local church in Cam (near Dursley) and then having our reception at Chavenage House near Tetbury.

My florist in Cam has been really helpful but its a bit far from Burford to be of any help probably.

All of that is down to my mum she is trying so hard to get everything done ASAP and making me feel panicked.....then I stop and think I have over a bloody year!!! and tell her to shhhhhh lol.

Are you having a honey moon anywhere nice abroad or keeping it nice and close to home?

Awwwww, open fires and blankets!! LUSH!

Well I have left that to OH I have just said NO HOSTELS as I know for a fact it will be travelling of some sort! He's saying 3 weeks total. Im just nodding my head for the moment because he's just excited about planning it.....when he realises a 6 grand honey moon for 2 people is ridiculous he'll have to re plan. We will never be able to save for that and wedding.
But I wont say anything until he figures it out for himself, and then have him slap the back of his own head for being over the top!

I think he's on about argentina, peru and brazil. If we do manage it and he thinks im climbing any mountains or daily 12 mile walks on my honeymoon I will feed him to the fishes lol

IM EXACTLY THE SAME!! Im not leaving the room unless my make up is applied and my hair is either up or straightened....even then the bits I have down my face when my hair is up needs to be straightened
That's why I said no hostels!! I am not sharing a room with any random stranger, and most definitely not sleeping in bunk beds.....I past that at the age of about 10 lol.

I know for a fact we wont be able to afford it straight after the wedding, unless he has a secret stash I don't no about!......Plus I would like to see if his work would even consider 3 weeks off!! and mine for that matter.

And I don't know who he thinks will look after the dog! I cant leave her for three weeks Smiley sad

I live in Dursley. Small world. Might pop over and see you tie the knot - St Barts?

You've all done loads! I have venue, church, photographer, bm dresses, saxophonist, bells, save the dates, night before accommodation and one reading so far.

I'm not sure where we'll honeymoon. Not sure if we have the money to go straight away, and not sure whether end of April/May will be good weather everywhere we're thinking of. So far in the hat are: New Zealand, Peru, Borneo...

We're the Dursley side of Cam so it's at St George's rather than St Barts
