Could this work - table name/centrepiece/sweetie buffet related!?

Buzzee, 11 June, 2011 at 21:24 Posted on Planning 0 4

Just had a brainwave (well with help from a random wedding blog i came across!) and wondered if this would be a good idea..

We don't have a theme as such, so were struggling with table names. But how about naming tables after retro sweets (we love sweets!), and having a jar of that sweet on each table. Then moving the jars later to a mini sweetie buffet next to the wedding cake.

Just not sure if there will be enough room on the table for a jar of sweets. And if i get smaller jars to fit the tables, will they then look a bit odd later on the buffet?!

Also, thinking of hygiene, could supply each table with mini tongs, so people aren't touching all the sweets whilst in the centre of theie table (OCD - moi, never!!)

Any suggestions would be great!

Have you planned what you are having as your centrepieces?

I think its a lovely idea, it will get people talking and reminiscing about when they used to eat them ?

Thats a really cool idea. There are enough types of sweets that come in pretty wrappers as well if you were worried about different people touching them. ?

Thanks all! glad to see we're on the same wavelength!

our centrepieces are likely going to be tall lilly vases with flowers in, on a mirror plate with crystals! so i guess there SHOULD be room for something else, but maybe a tall thin vase rather than something like a bowl that would take up too much room.

my OH really wants the favours to be some handmade luxury chocs that we can get quite cheaply as he knows the chocolatier. (these would just go in a small box on each person's place setting) so my other concern is that the favours with the retro sweets could be a bit overkill. but i love choc/sweets so i guess it doesn't matter!

and good point about not needing table names if the sweets are obvious enough!!
