Count your blessings - tell me why you're happy

Lillythepink, 22 April, 2009 at 21:19 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 53

Well, it's early days, I know, but I'm so so sos so so happy I quit work. I feel like a different woman. I'm happy and finding the fun again. My house is benefiting from my new-found energy and my relationship with WTP is spot-on at the moment, even though we're spending sooooo very much time in close proximity.

My kids are healthy, the weather's been fab, and I'm getting stuff done that I've wanted to do for ages, but not had the neergy once I got in from work.

So tell me what YOU are happy about right now xx

I have an amazing toddler son, a fantastic husband, a part time job I enjoy, have just booked a canal barge weekend with friends and my H has just agreed to a cleaner - happy days in the O-L household!

Have had a crappy couple of weeks (grandad died, had to buy all new furniture for our house unexpectedly and fell down the stairs) so am focussing on the positive!

I have a new (to me!) car, and I've paid off ex Mr Dief what I owe him from the house. And a guy that I've liked for a while has expressed a clear interest in me... Early days yet but I've been inside-smiley all day.

Me and Mr Dooby are getting along fabulously at the moment and it's sooooooo nice just to be spending time together.

Also it's our wedding anniversary on sunday (6 years already!) and i've arranged for us to go and have afternoon tea on the terrace of the swanky hotel we stayed at for our wedding night so i'm really looking forward to that!

Plus we've got a fabulous home which I love living in (in total contrast to our last house which I hated going home to), we've both got jobs which are fairly stable despite the recession.

Then in only 8 weeks we're off for a fantastic week of holibobs to the South of France which will be brilliant - my first time off work this year!

Work is OK, both Mr I & I have jobs.

Master I is fab. We saw his consultant before Easter and his hip bone is starting to regrow. This is amazingly brilliant news as it can take years to get to this stage.

Happy because I was offered a well-paid, permanent position yesterday - amazing at any time, but more so in the current climate. Less happy as said wages will be used to absorb our money woes created by said fecking climate ?

Some great happy posts on here! So pleased to hear you're happy again LTP. It's been a while ?

I'm happy because I've just returned from a lunch I didn't feel I had time to go to, and made some wonderful new friends. I didn't think I had time to fit anything else into my life, but this new group of women are fantastic. The group is called ICH - International Connections of Houston. Some very travelled, knowledgeable and cultured women.

I'm happy because we've got our Green Cards. It took just 6 weeks from the application going in to getting approval. Unheard of!

I'm happy because we've just bought a house. A week after getting our Green Cards!

I'm happy because on Sunday I'm flying back to the UK and the company are paying for me to go. I need to sort these houses out, and I can't do it from here.

I'm happy because I'll get to see my Mum and Brother. He was released from hospital today and is staying with my Mum. I'm not sure if it will be too much for me to stay with her too, but it'll be a good opportunity for me to talk to him and see where he is at.

I'm happy because the sun is shining and it's in the 80s here already. I won't be too happy when it gets much hotter than this, as this is perfect. The humidity is on the verge of kicking in, so making the most of it.

I'm happy because my foot is practically healed, the food poisoning has left the building (finally, after a course of ABs) and it's one of the days when I actually feel quite good!

Can I share what is making me happy today please?

We've managed to find youngest step daughter a primary school close to us and she starts on Monday! No more 300 mile round trips a week for MrKB. No more being classed as a second class parent by the stupid school office & teachers. Hopefully youngest will settle in and make lots of new friends in the area so she'll have groups and activities to do at the weekends and during the school holidays. And in two years time when she moves to secondary school, we'll hopefully have an easier time than we did with her sister.

She visited the school yesterday, met with her teacher & teaching assistant, some of the children in her class and had a tour of the school. She loves it and is so excited!

    Yay!

Have a fantastic H and 21 mth old daughter. Expecting #2 in 3 months and everything seems to be going well. Remortgaging the house at the moment, and for the same monthly amount as current deal, we are swapping and immediately knocling 5 years off the term (so 5 years closer to freedom).

The sun is trying to shine. Life is good

    I have a wonderful husband

I have two fab (if occasionally annoying) children (and right now I am extra happy as one is in pre-school and the other is nap bound any minute ?)

I have a roof over my head

I have my first proper paid job today (that is a bit of eek and a bit of huge grin)

It is my birthday on Saturday and we have friends coming up for lunch.

I am not as wibbly about my CBT today and am feeling more positive after a rocky few weeks. I might actually beat this stupid thing!

I have a lovely husband and we are expecting our first baby just before Christmas.

I've just ordered a new car and I've never had a brand new car before, so I'm very happy about it

We're finally getting our house sorted, we had loads of stuff to get finished before we can sell and we are desperate to move to a better area before the baby has to go to nursery or school round here.

I have a lovely husband and two brilliant children, I live in a city I love, I am enjoying my studies hugely and (hopefully) my fears of brain-atrophy were unfounded. I am feeling positively Darlingesque about the economy looking up next year, so career plans might not be as ruined as I'd feared. I've got two lovely holidays coming up. I finish my exams in less than a month and will then have a whole summer with nothing to do but hang out with the children and get my house sorted out. I'm really enjoying living so close to my sister.

The runts are coming along fabulously - walking and talking and generally being entertaining. Master A is my pride and joy for any number of reasons and I am delighted at the young man he's growing in to.

MrA and I are getting on really well after some rocky times when neither of us seemed happy with anything. Have reconciled self to fact that his family is full of cnuts and nothing I can do will make them less cnutish, ergo, am vision of serenity when they are here rather than ball of stress.

I'm currently being a top wif by loading all his shitty music on to my Ipod for him to take away to Liverpool for the weekend.

Also stupidly happy to have bought some of runts' Christmas presents in Hamley's half price sale at weekend. ?

I was just thinking how happy I am atm when I saw this thread!

H and I are in full-on newlywed bliss, which is lovely as we've been together 10 years so I didn't think marriage would change anything! His job is going fantastically well - he's impressing all the right people, they gave him a payrise and it's all looking very positive re a permanent position in 6 months. This means I don't have to work and we're able to <whispers> TTC <whispers>, which I'm currently feeling v good about. Also thinking about looking into part-time MA courses...

I have my 2nd driving lesson later. I've put off learning since I turned 17 and am feeling quite smug that finally, at the grand old age of nearly 25, I've plucked up the courage to learn! (only because I want my own car ?)

I'm excited about next weekend. Wedding reception Thursday (have a fab new outfit planned), birthday next Friday so planning a day at Alton Towers followed by cake with family, family over on Saturday for BBQ/takeaway/meal out to celebrate birthday, then 2 whole days of relaxing with H.

How lovely that there are so many happy hitchers atm. Long may it (and the sunshine!) continue!

El husbando and I are getting on fantastically. Its top notch tbh.

In two weeks we go to a) barcelona and b) jenson button stalking the spanish grand prix

My pink food mixer is on the wayyyyyyyyyy!

LTP, am so pleased for you ?

Things are going great here too actually after a really bloody awful year last year. We've finally got settled after our relocation north in an area we really like, and I am loving being so near to family and friends and new friends too. Also my grandma is finally well and my mum is doing ok with her living with her, after a rocky start.

Next week I start a new job which I'm sickeningly excited about, and better still, for which I've had a really quite huge payrise and so I can finally see a time when I'll be debt free. It's a fantastic feeling.

Our relationship is going really, really well and I suspect a proposal might be in the pipeline at last!

Sun is shining, I'm doing exercise and eating well and I feel loads better for it, and we're going to see Girls Aloud on Saturday ?

It's refreshing to see some of the good things in life .... Thank you for reminding me of my own blessings.

I'm healthy, have a decent, permanent job which ennjoy, a great team to work with and can see trees and sky from my office!

Our dog which recently had cruciate ligament repair surgery is recovering really well and the insurance is covering all the costs, including a course of hydrotherapy.

My mum is getting better after a hernia op. She's in her 80s so it was a big thing for her.

    The sun is shining!

I'm happy as people I don't really know but still care for are happy!

I'm happy as I've made some great friends recently through DT stalking regular theatre trips and I'm having SUCH a laugh doing things a sensible 34 yr old probably shouldn't be doing! Volunteering to be a steward at a festival springs to mind. As does getting to bed at 4.30am on a school night as I've been watching a Dr Who night shoot in Cardiff. And writing fan mail to actors (but they replied - bless them!)

Seriously, although DT was the catalyst that started me going to the theatre last year, I love it and have willingly given up a holiday this year so I can spend my cash on going to the theatre instead....19 times so far this year and counting Smiley winking

Wow you are all a cheerful lot this week... long may it continue..

For me, as of tomorrow I finally get to live with my husband again after almost 8 months of living apart during the week (we started living apart during the week less than a month after getting married due to a job change for me)..

Our new house is looking like a bomb site but it feels more like home than the dump we have just moved out of

H starts a fabby new job on monday with a payrise from his last place

    What a lovely, uplifting thread!

    My blessings are:

    - have the loveliest husband, ever. He really is TLS.

    - my hair is growing back after the loss caused by illness, and I reckon I'm about two hair cuts away from it no longer being massively obvious that I once had a bald patch.

    - we're doing all sorts of things to the house and it's looking great

    - TLS's business is going well and he's really happy.

    - I can see my cats from my window; they are both out in the garden, fast asleep in pools of sunshine, and look v. cute.

Just got the results of my latest diploma module: 82%. Sweet.

The River Cottage Pieman's Organic Herb Garden is coming along well. The ground is prepared and all the herbs are ready for potting on / transplanting next week.

I'm off to an antique fair on sunday with my folks and have some cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Everybody I know and love is healthy and happy.

    I'm happy because:

I'm in South Africa, at my lovely sister's house which is the warmest and happiest place, even if there is a dead mouse on her patio table ?

I saw my mum and dad this moring and mum is looking much, much better and seems really cheerful

My best friend in the world is getting married on Saturday to a man who worships her

LOML is the most gorgeous man in the world and I adore him

    I have amazing friends

I am not feeling fat ?
