crafty otters

pooksgirl, 24 August, 2013 at 22:11 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I've not done any crafts in ages but want to start getting back into it. However all of my craft goodies are just piled in boxes and it's driving me crazy having to go rummaging when I want to find something. So tell me how you store your craft supplies, feel free to flash me as well.

The crafts I do/did are cross stitch, jewellery making, and some cardmaking just so you've got an idea of what kind of supplies I've got.

Do you have B&M stores near you? They have some good sized drawer things (which take an A4 file) two lots for £25, with four drawers in each. They are fab?

Not sure about b&m, those are kinda of what I've got at the moment for some of my stuff only just got the drawers the stand thing got broken. The rest of it is in various really useful company boxes.

What I'd love is something like this http://pinterest.com/pin/434456695273765946/

My main annoyance is the boxes are rammed full and just heaped in a pile in the spare room, I don't remember have of what's in there Smiley sad

I have an 'index' detailing what is in each. Although at the moment it is all hidden away as I am trying to be as ready as possible to move (house has been on the market for a year now☹️)

I really should tidy all my craft/sewing junk.

Ikea do a good storage range. Hobbycraft sell the lock boxes but I find them quite pricey. Like Pittabre said B&M or Poundstretcher do a good storage range, best to shop around.

Do you a Range near you?

That is a thing of beauty!

TBH I think it's going to have to wait until next month now, too many hockey games coming up to pay for to do anything this month. My next few days off work I will try and motivate myself to sort through everything so at least I will know what I've got and what I need to organise it a bit better then I can check out a few shops. There's a Range nearby, Dunelm Mill, Wilkinsons etc so will recce them.

I've lusted after one of these for ages: http://www.storage4crafts.com/shopx/product.php?productid=1665&cat=203&page=1

But I can't justify spending 1300 so I'm gonna try and make something similar with an Ikea wardrobe - if I every get round to doing it, I'll flash a pic!

this would be my dream, but even if we had that kind of money spare I don't think I could convince himself it was worth it!

My H actually wanted to buy it for me (as a mega birthday pressie before all our money goes into the house and hopefully kids later on) as he figured it would keep the place tidy (my craft stuff is in our living room ATM) but I just couldn't justify it. He has resigned himself to getting an Ikea wardrobe and designing the perfect solution for me! ?

Ive got to say if mine wanted to buy that for me, then whilst I know we probably shouldnt I'd be very hard pressed to tell him no, i'd be more likely to be running down the street screaming in excitement and wanting to go pick it up right then!

There was a teeny part of me that felt like that when he first suggested it but I'm only an occasional cardmaker & scrapbooker so would feel it was a lot of money for little or no return. H is an engineer and has convinced me he can do even better so I shall wait.... I must take pics of how it currently looks so I can flash them both when he's done!
