Hi all.
Finally getting round to doing my report. Where to start?
I met OH on 31 March 2012. We met on Match.com. I had separated from my *** of an ex husband 5 months beforehand and wasn't looking for anything serious. Within about a week of meeting OH I knew he was the one. Within 5 months we had got our beautiful pet rats and had both put our houses on the market so we could buy one together. Mad, or just sure?! We started talking about getting married about this time last year, and made some provisional plans. We officially got engaged on 18 December 2013. I got home from work and OH had done out the dining room in 100 tealights (think Monica/Chandler engagement as we are huge Friends fans), got down on one knee and made it official.
Anyway, our wedding day....
Woke up at stupid o'clock, feeling so nervous that I threw up! We had spent the night at home together, so at 9.30am my bridesmaids picked me up to go to my Mum's house, and the best man and his wife turned up at ours to help OH get ready.
We all had our hair and make up done, one of my bridesmaids did the make up and did a great job, and her friend did the hair. All was fine until her hairdryer exploded...narrowly avoiding setting one of the bridesmaids hair on fire...we spent the morning getting ready and watching Jeremy Kyle (as you do) to calm our nerves. OH had left me some beautiful flowers at my Mum's house, and a red bracelet from the rats to wear with my dress, that got me all teary. All went to plan, although we did end up leaving late.
The camper van picked us up and took me, Dad and both bridesmaids to the Guildhall. That was the best journey ever I loved it, although it did about 10mph all the way and made us later! Had some photos with the van, then went to meet with the registrar to do the formal stuff. Think she was a bit taken aback by my dress.
The ceremony - I walked in to the recording that OH had done of him playing Small Black Flowers by the Manics, he recorded it as I couldn't find an acoustic version of it. OH was in tears before I even got into the hall! The ceremony was lovely, went by in a blur, although the registrar forgot to incorporate our personal vows so we had to do them at the end.
We had some pictures taken around the Guildhall to make use of all the beautiful rooms, then came out to have the group photos on the steps outside, and some people from work were out there waiting to see us which was nice. we then walked across to Pizza Express for the breakfast. OH had had a huge canvas of the rats made and put on the wall behind us, which made me cry again. The food was great, the speeches were not too embarrassing...
OH's speech got the biggest reaction because....he was able to announce that we are expecting our first baby! We had already told parents but it was a complete shock to everyone else. So as from May next year we will be Crazyrattrio!
We then went over the golf club for the evening reception. The evening had a bit of a lull as most of the day guests went back to their hotels, and didn't come back till much later, which put us behind schedule and I wasn't best pleased. Anyway once it all got going, we did 'the world's worst raffle' which was highly amusing, we had prizes such as a Justin Bieber toothbrush, a Spam cookbook, a shower bandage and a Reg Holdsworth mug. We had great fun shopping for prizes!
Instead of a guest book, we had our own brainwave which went down really well. We asked all the guests to make a plasticine model of themselves for us to keep. This kept everyone entertained for hours and we ended up with some interesting figures!!
My Dad's rock & roll band played for an hour and were awesome, then we did our handfasting ceremony which went down really well and make a few people teary. Then came the first dance, my dance with my Dad, and then into our rock disco. We cut the cake at about 10pm. Still eating it now! The buffet was excellent, it was all prepared by a friend of my Mum and she did such a good job.
On a sad note, our beautiful little Isaac passed away 2 days after the wedding. He held on for us, and we are so grateful, but it has been a sad week, especially for the other two who don't understand and keep looking for him.
Here are some photos from our day, I will add some more when I get the proper ones through. If you've read this far well done!
