Creating a website, domain hosting etc blah

I run all my business through BT, and they host my website for me for about £15 per month (could have been £5 but I needed a few extra bits including some routing through a client's server).

Good so far - although their One Bill system sucks occasionally - sortable, but shouldn't be necessary. I think it was pilot error, though, because the chap who sorted the hosting 'forgot' to route the bill through the office and sent it to my house.

It depends what you want to achieve. I used 1and1 and found them to be good when I started - their website manager was slow and limited, but it gave me some sort of web presence.

My business is now 2 years old and one of the things I wished I had done from the beginning is invested in a professional website. It's changed our fortunes significantly, especially the way other companies perceive us. You might find it saves you money in the long run.

Have been looking at the BT one and it seems OK for what I want - £5 a month to begin with and then I guess I can upgrade. Re the design thing am a bit of a designer (though not websites!) myself so for a starter site should be able to get things up and running and looking OK.

I've no idea whether this will all come off so a bit loathe to invest tooooo much at the outset - it's more testing the water really
