Creative Guest Booking

Melty Cat, 6 March, 2013 at 17:16 Posted on Planning 0 17

We are only having 30 to 37 guests, but I want something different when it came to the guest book. I was wondering if anyone had any fun ideas that could either jazz up the guest book itself, or maybe even a NEW way of guestbooking.

I have heard of photobooths, polaroids with white board and so on, so I was curious if you guys have heard of any others. Smiley smile

I've seen some lovely big frames on ebay that people write messages on and then you put a wedding photo in it.

I'd love to do it but as we are having 120 guest inc evening I think we'd need a ginormous frame!

The little thumb print trees are cute too but I'd like actual messages from my guests

Finger print trees seem to be quite popular on here. http://www.fingerprinttree.co.uk/

I also heard of a message in a bottle where your guest write you a message and put it in a bottle which you smash on x wedding anniversary to read all the messages.

We had a wishing tree - loads of massive cherry blossom branches in a big gold vase. I printed out tags, painted a letter box, tied ribbon and left them for guests to leave for us...

(We had five different types of tag...)

Ahhh, thanks guys! They all sound so much fun! I'd love some sort of arts and crafts corner so people could do something like that. (It's just OKing it with the venue though.) The pottery idea sounds amazingly fun.

Like *Funky* suggested I'm hoping to have a fingerprint tree - but I will probably get mine from here https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/thejoyofmemories/product/wedding-fingerprint-tree

We are only having 24 guests so I might get them to print their fingerprints twice.

We're having a bit of a music theme so our guest books will be framed vinly LP's and we have silver pens for people to write on them. We also loved the idea of the wishing tree or the polaroid photo guest book but chose the vinyls as they match our theme.

If you want pics of the guests:

Photobooth - the types that supply the album so the pics can be stuck in and a message beside them

Polaroid camera on a table with a guestbook and pics get stuck in & write message beside it

Photobooth app for the ipad - take the pic of the guests and they can write in a message on the ipad

Similar to polaroid camera but use a digital one and the polaroid pogo printer (photos printed on sticky paper)

    Signature/message alone:

Large framed pic of the two of you and space around the outside for guests to sign

    Fingerprint tree

Large plate to be signed & later fired

Jigsaw puzzle of the two of you and the guests pick a piece and sign the back (other variations - mosaics, piese of material to sew together after etc.)

Jenga - Buy a large jenga puzzle and have the guests sign each piece

Bunches of card pieces at all the tables with different titles - advice, funny story, etc. and the guests pick one, fill it in and then pin it on a board/hang it on a decorative tree

Our idea is almost like the last one - just that we're not asking specific types - they can write what they want & then pop it in the little box beside. Idea behind this is because I'm beginning scrap-booking and would like to scrapbook these. Photos are out for us as too many guests (180) and would require either too much money or too much coordination!

(sorry for the long post but these are all the ones we came across!)

This is the most 'out there' thing I've seen - you can be fairly certain none of your guests will have seen anything similar. This example is VERY expensive, but I'm sure you could do it MUCH cheaply, maybe even for free?!:

Can I suggest a wishing tree with butterfly wishes. Or even for something a little different candle bags that guest can write on and you can light each week. These can be used indoors or outdoors. All these are available on our site.

I love the fingerprint trees, but as a warning a friend of mine had one and her guests got a little drunk...

The lovely white walls of her venue where decorated should we say...
