Cupcake Recipe

Hi all

I've decided to be very creative for my daughters birthday (not me at all!) and instead of buying her a birthday cake for her party, I thought it would be nice if we made lots of little cupcakes and decorated them and put them on a cupcake stand, then each of the children can take one home in their party bags.

So my problem is I'm not really a baking type, so wondered if anyone had any tried and tested recipes for us to try.

I would say that you probably won't go wrong with a 'Delia' Recipe.

I use Nigella's recipe for fairy cakes then use a piping bag (just a cheap one) to decorate them with swirly coloured icing. Looks fab. Made some for my daughter's first bday and they were the talk of the party!

I think you could probably google her fairy cake recipe - I cut it out of a magazine ages ago.

Good luck. I think the decorating bit is loads of fun and I can't wait to do more!
