cymbidium orchids and what else??

Swaff, 16 April, 2009 at 16:06 Posted on Planning 0 9

Hi

This is my first post so hope someone can help me ?

We are having a September wedding with an autumnal theme, I love cymbidium orchids and want them in my bouquet, I'm thinking a deep red colour and probably will have cream roses in there too. But I'm stuck on what else to put in there, not keen on lillies (childhood phobia they remind me to much of funerals) so that cancels out the cala lillies that everyone keeps suggesting. The bridesmaid bouquet will be the cream roses and whatever else we go with.

Does anyone else have an idea?

Thanks for any help.

Roses will look fine, I know this is not your colour scheme but here is an idea of the 2 together:

Maybe have Cream Cymbidiums and Red Roses.

If you like the idea of cymbidium orchids and roses, why not just stick to that? As Sherrie's pic shows, it's a lovely combination, and then the bridesmaids can just carry handtied rose bouquets if you don't want them to have the orchids too.

    And welcome to Hitched!

    Just wanted to say hello!!

i no nothing about flowers but i think if you put too many together it might look overly fussy. What you have and what the ladies are suggesting looks lovely. Personally am just having germinis and leaves but i like very simple and no fuss at all

    ?

    xx

    Hello, welcome to Hitched!

We're getting married in October and are loosley focusing on the autumn theme. I love the idea or orchids and I think the cream roses would look lovely. How about adding some nice green foliage? I'm going for dark red/burgundy roses with some mango coloured flowers (not quite sure which ones yet) some greenery and hypericum berries. Apparently the berries can come in difference colours. Has your florist made any suggestions?

As the others have said you could keep to those 2 main flowers and add foliage/ grass/ berries or add another flower like gerbera for a contrast shape.

ask your florist to show you examples of previous work they have done with that combitation of flowers, I find my photos always help my brides decide what they do and don't like together.

Cymbidiums are a gorgeous flower - even on their own they can make a really striking bouquet. Or with roses like sherries picture and maybe some berries to incoporate an autum feel?
