Daft question - post boxes?? - question answered. Thanx :-)

CarolineBride, 24 August, 2011 at 08:15 Posted on Planning 0 6

I've seen references to post boxes at weddings.

Is that just a fancy box for people to 'post' their cards into when they arrive?

What's it all about? What do people think of them?

Indeed, you can have the 'post box' like above, or some people just have something as simple as a box covered in wrapping paper with a hole in the top.

It all depends how much you want to spend, and how important it is to you. Some people use a bird cage or similar so you can 'post the cards through the bars', really it's just something secure so that randoms can't steal them.

Otherwise, the tradition is that the Best Man recieves gifts on behalf of the couple, which of course may not necessarily be straightforward or convenient.

Some of the stationery hitchers-in-business do various designs of postbox (such as http://www.puddycards.co.uk/id99.htm) or you can find things on Ebay.

A lot depends how much time you have, if you want to try making your own, or how 'craft minded' you happen to be.
