Daft TMI question re cuts (and toe nails)

Mrs Magic, 25 August, 2009 at 13:33 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 2

Part of my big nail broke off on Saturday night after spending two days cutting the cuticle and causing a blister. Where the blister was, there is now a cut. It's only a small one but it bloomin' hurts. ? I'm a very slow healer (steriods, I presume?) so have been keeping it clean and covered. Today there is a considerable (for the size of the cut) amount of green gunge on the dressing. Does this automatically mean infection? I've tried googling but it keeps bringing up sinus mucus ?) and alike.

Going to the docs is such an exhausting activity that I'd rather not go if I can avoid it. I'm wary as last time I had a toenail problem, I ended up on antibiotics but it seems like a sledgehammer to crack a nut scenario if it will be a quick passing phase. ?

?

In the past I've used magnesium paste which has helped but I think once its got to the green pus stage then it probably needs anti bs.

Keep bathing it in salt water in the meantime but its worth a quick chat with the chemist before going to the Drs.

Oh boo, I thought as much. Thanks ladies. ?

I'll try to pop into the pharmacy later FN to see what they say.

ETA, changing the words in my google search (I'm ?) has shown the same and has also said a weakened immune system does lead to slow healing and wound infections. Grr. I'm still suffering from the cut heels I got mid-june. How rubbish is that? ?
