Dance lessons

Kat44, 12 April, 2011 at 10:24 Posted on Planning 0 7

If any of you are having dance lessons, how far before the wedding are you having them?

That's it really! I'm thinking of having a couple of basic lessons (not a full on routine) but just so we don't just sway side to side, and not sure when to start looking at arranging them.

Gosh this is the part of the wedding I am DREADING!

I am Dyspraxic you see and I have no sense of rhythm at all!

My other half is a great dancer but I can't make my body do what I want it do. I once went to an aerobics class and had to leave because I couldn't do what the lady was asking ☹️ I didn't know I was Dyspraxic then, only found out when my son was diagnosed.

I was thinking of trying lessons too but I don't know if it will make any difference for me!

Hi, My FI and I are having dance lessons :-/ The place we go offers a programme of 5 private lessons and 5 group lessons. We're both pretty hopeless but it's actually not bad. The group lessons are mainly wedding couples, and our teacher told us she was pleased with our progress last night. It's a bit weird - the lessons and practising in the hall - but actually quite fun. Which is pleasantly surprising.

Dance lessons are something we are looking into to. My OH has too left feet and I dont want him standing on my dress. I thought he wouldnt be into dance lessons but he's really keen on the idea, he thinks it'll be good us time. We dont want a choreographed routine either, the dance instructor I have contacted suggested a first lesson beginning of may, 6 weeks prior to our wedding, and take it from there.

I'd look at arranging them now or within the next month if I were you.

We started taking ballroom and latin lessons around 15 months ago. Nothing to do with being engaged.. that happened 6 weeks ago! We had an arrangement I would learn to ski and he would take dance lessons with me. Our initial group lessons lasted 8 weeks and this would have been long enough for a bit more than a shuffle on the floor, you wouldn't even need that many lessons as we learnt around 10 styles of dance from waltz to jive to tango. we have decided to now use our lessons rather than taking any more exams to learn a foxtrot to the Buble version of 'Feeling Good'

We met ballroom dancing but have not done it in a while and we are having lessons now tonight is our 4th but then we are learning 2 fully choreographed dances a waltz which we know and can do and a boogie/social foxtrot (which is not so good) The amount of time it takes is dependant on skills, how much you practice in between classes and whether you have private or group lessons.....

We had our first dance lesson last night and get married in May. We're having 5 hours of lessons through First Dance UK and we had such a laugh last night! They're doing a routine for us - simple but impressive apparently!

We get married in August and we plan to start lessons in May. My friend is teaching us.
