Darkhouse Pictures

Meggiemoo1981, 29 January, 2012 at 13:36 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi,

Has anyone used Darkhouse Pictures? I still really like the idea of a videographer! But I think cost is an issue as my OH doesn't think we need on. They have a special offer on today so I'm just wondering if they're any good!

Hey Meggiemoo1981...sorry I can't comment on Darkhouse Pictures but all I can say is that my OH was like yours, quite against it but since getting our video back, he says he's never been happier to be proven wrong - we both absolutely love it. Good luck with persuading the OH x

Did you use a professional videographer? Do you mind me asking how much you paid?

Yep, we did...our original vog dropped out 10 days before the wedding because he had an accident on holiday. We managed to find White Partridge, who did a great last minute deal for £550 x

I can't comment on the quality of the work, but Darkhouse pictures ALWAYS have offers on. Usually packages for £99 from what I've seen ( We have them on Facebook) so I wouldn't be pressured into choosing or deciding now. Another one will be along Smiley smile

Hmmmmmmmmm I'm dubious as they're not able to show me any of their work until April, despite being in business for 8 years. I think they do other filming work other than weddings. Part of me wants to risk it! The sensible part of me says if something seems too good to be true it probably is!!!

I cant comment on the company but wanted to add that we have booked a VOG. My OH wasn't keen on the idea at first but once he had seen the final product of the videos/DVDs he loved them. From speaking to many brides who hired a vog, they have all said how pleased they were with the end results.

Do you mind me asking who you've used and how much they cost? My OH has said yes, but not sure he'd want to pay lots!!!

Again, I can't comment on the standard of work as I have never seen it, but speaking generally and in my professional opinion- you should never book with someone before you have seen a range of examples of their work (amongst other things). As a professional, if I couldn't show someone what I had to offer, I wouldn't expect anyone to book me, let alone pay me.

If you can't then it really isn't worth the risk imo- not necessarily due to the financial side, but also because of what it will cost you in stress, inconvenience and the faith you will no doubt lose in other suppliers if things did all go wrong. You'll probably also be kicking yourself!

I've never spoken to them, nor kept up to date in any detail with their posts, but as I say I have them as a "friend" on facebook and they're always posting offers. If you look back through their page this one day only deal was also up last week and the week before (or something very similar) The one that springs to mind is the £99 videography deal that pops up quite alot.

Don't be pressurised into booking anything, ever. Something else will come along Smiley smile

Thanks. I was thinking the exact same thing. I find it a bit strange that they've been working for 8 years, yet have nothing to show me. If something seems too good to be true then it usually is!!!

I'm not too sure what kind of budget you're working with, but "Unique Visuals" are amazing.

They're based in Essex, but cover the whole of the UK Smiley smile
Might be worth giving them a look?

Thanks. Their videos look amazing but sadly our budget isn't that high. We haven't really budgeted for a VOG so not sure it's an option.
