Day guest help

furture mrs yates, 6 March, 2012 at 22:51 Posted on Planning 0 9

I am just after a bit of advice, I can’t decide whether to ask a friend and her husband in the day to my wedding. We have been friends for about 8 years, we were close however over the last 2 years i can count on one hand how many times I have seen her. She is meant to becoming on my hen weekend however has not booked her flights and not replying to any message my MOH has sent her and its delaying things. I feel a bit false asking her because of not seeing each other and feel we have become quittances more than friends and I feel it’s out of principle I am asking her but then i feel guilty not asking.

If she is close enough that you have invited her to your hen do, I guess you should really invite her to the wedding.

Agree to evening only. You need to be ruthless and she may be expecting a day invite but if you're no longer close and she can't be bothered to get in touch re hen do then I wouldn't feel guilty about it

WSS. Especially if she's not responding to emails about the hen-do. Anyways, there's no reason you can't invite people to the hen party that aren't invited to the wedding! Sometimes when your wedding is small some people will understand and want to celebrate the hen party anyways!

Thanks ladies, I think i will just invite her to the evening as list is going on and on. I spoke to my MOH last night as she invited her to the hen do as she is friends with her to. She said she was coming so we changed accomodation to acomodate her costing me £120 more as needed an extra room as we had already given everyone the price. And now MOH does not think she is coming.

No Not sent them out yet just sorting them out now and thats why i starting think about just asking her to the night as it is frustating cause my MOH cant book anything else cause of the numbers as i dont want to end up paying for things if she doesnt go and then if she is not booked on and goes its a nightmere. I even said to her when i seen her you totally shocked me coming. My other half things she just said it to save face as i went really out of my way for her hen weekend and wedding and if i hadn't she would have had a boring time as no one else planned anthing.

If I were you I would intervene and text/ring your "friend" saying that your MOH needs an answer re hen-do so can she get in touch please asap as she's holding up making any arrangements. Make her feel guilty as she's causing a big inconvenience. I've organised my own but anyone that didn't get back to me I just automatically assumed they weren't coming and if they want to add on at a later stage they can sort it themselves.
