Days leading up to wedding...

Wherts2b, 23 February, 2012 at 10:16 Posted on Planning 0 10

What's everyone's plans the days leading up to the wedding? I've got 3 days off work before the big day and just planning when to book in salon for nails etc! Also got to leave time to transport decoration to venue, pick up my dress & BM dresses. Can't think what else I wll need to be doing that late on?

Well I think because of the bank holidays my oh will have quite a fee days off altogether as he also gets two days off work for getting married (he thinks). We were thinking of having a mini break somewhere maybe driving down to south of France so we can do something non-weddingy. Then maybe fly to the uk a couple of days before and sort out the last minute bits like picking up his suit, my dress, get my spray tan done etc :-)

I'm hoping to book off a couple days before the wedding, but I have no idea where I'll be working, so we'll leave that for a bit. We've rented a cottage on our venue's property for a full week before the wedding as 2 night would have been 75% of the weekly rental fee, and we figured we could use it for out of town guests as well.

Anyways, so I plan to stay at the venue for a few days before the wedding, as I'm DIYing a lot of stuff (CAKE! FLOWERS! SWEETS BAR! AAA!). My BMs and my mom might be stayng with me to do all the finishing touches and relax in the gardens, etc.

So my week before the wedding will be packing up everything I need: dresses, shoes, regular clothing, kitchenaid mixer, my pre-baked frozen cake layers, ingredients for icings, tea-cups and floral foam, pillar candles and vases, sweets jars, tongs, baggies, and a plethora of cake stands. Wow, actually, I think I might be in need of an extra car looking at all this. I only live 30 min from the venue, so I might just do a couple trips over the week and bring things when we need them.

I think we'll probably drive into a nearby town for mani pedis the day before the wedding, though. I want it to be as relaxing as possible despite all the prep we have to do, and I think staying on-site will make that possible.

I've got the day off before. i get married on a friday. this is how i hope to have y week:

    tuesday evening: facial then wax

    Wednesday evening: nails

thursday day: oh & i are going into town for lunch just the two of us to be nice & normal people rather than stress heads who are planing a wedding.

thursday night: staying at my CBMs with other BMs & my mum after going to the hotel & taking all the stuff & setting the room up.

we've already got the dresses. the suits are being delivered. the florist & cake lady will take everything to the hotel.

Vernart love that you're having a cottage. sounds lovely.

We arrive in Oz on the Monday morning and get married on the Saturday. There are certain things that can't be done until we get there. Here's my rough plan of what we'll be doing in that week.

Monday/Tuesday: relax, catch up on sleep. Collect pebbles from the beach and write guest names on them (place settings). Mr Knees to take ushers to show them how to get from the church to the boat (as we'll be off having photos). Distribute welcome bags to our overseas guests.

Wednesday: Help SIL put together table plan. Have final venue meeting. Bake cookies for guests to take home at end of night

Thursday: Waxing then mini hen do

Friday: move hotels, get nails done, rehearsal

Cottages, collecting pebbles on the beach in Oz. Makes my facial look a bore lol.

Like the idea of having lunch out with OH the day before. Mind you i'll probably be starving myself by then in the hope of a flat tummy!

I will finish work on the 20th of July I think, my wedding is the 16th of August, the first week I will be setting up my classroom and getting everything ready for the new term, after that I will be falling into 3 week of pure, uninterupted (except for my brothers wedding on the 26th of July- copycat!) wedding bliss- I am very lucky that I will have so much time to sort out the finishing touches, and beautify myself. I was set on August for this very reason as without so much time I would turn into a nightmare, obsessive, stressheaded bridezilla! I then have another 2 1/2 weeks after the wedding before I go back to school. I am very lucky.

I get married on the Sunday and am working until the Friday lunchtime. I have booked in for some waxing on the tues after work. On the Friday afternoon I need to collect my dress and take it to my parents and then collect the cake and take that to ours. On Sat morning we have to collect the flowers and take those to the venue and then I am having my nails done on Sat afternoon.

Aww, I don't think it's a bore. There's nothing too special about the cottage. TBH it's just a way to get out of the world for a couple days to do all the finishing touches I've crazily decided to do! Actually, I'm going to need all the time there I'll be able to get as half the time that week I'll be having to entertain all my out of town guests, organizing trips to Canterbury Cathedral and Shepherd Neame Brewery, a shopping day in London, and one other day I haven't decided on yet. I might not go to all of them, but I have to coordinate with everyone to make sure they're all happy and entertained!

Lunch with the OH would be lovely, but I'm sure he'll be working the whole week, and even if he takes the Friday off, I'm probably going to be too busy!!

I think we arrive on Zanzibar early morning 5th August. We'll spend that day settling in and sightseeing. Next day we have to meet the priest and go through formalities. And more sightseeing. And shopping. And sunbathing. Morning of the wedding we've said we'll be off doing some activity or other, then get married in the evening Smiley smile
