Debenhams Virgin Card

Rhoslyn, 2 January, 2013 at 17:01 Posted on Planning 0

Hi Hitchers,

I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.

I'm after some advice on Wedding/ Honeymoon lists. We will have lived together for 4 years before getting married so don't want a traditional list. Also because of moving straight after the wedding, we aren't looking to have the honeymoon until a few months after the wedding. After hunting around for ages for the right thing, we have found that Debenhams do a honeymoon list with Virgin Holidays.

It works like this (apparently):

You can have a giftcard linked to the giftlist. Guests can contribute to this giftcard which can then be redeemed with Virgin Holidays. Unlike other honeymoon lists I have found, you don't have to book the honeymoon first. You can take the card after the wedding to Virgin and use it towards your honeymoon.

Has anybody used this service before? It sounds a bit too good to be true?

Thanks in advance.

Never used this service myself but I'd have a few concerns.

    - What if you find the same/similar holiday with another company at a cheaper price? That would really annoy me.

    - What if the company goes bust or the offer changes? Do you have wedding insurance & does it cover such things?

I personally would prefer the cash, or have guests contribute to a 'honeymoon fund' bank account.
