Slap my wrists if there is already one of these but do we have any brides for December? If so it may be nice to get to know one another a bit better by answering the following questions. It's also great for getting ideas!

Your name?

Where do you live?

What do you both do jobwise?

Any children?

When did you meet your OH?

The proposal?

The venue?

The date?

Your dress?

Colour scheme?

Theme?

Table names?

Honeymoon?

And any flashes that you wish to add?

Have fun! xx

Hi! There is already one of these but no harm in having another!

I'm Sarah, my H2B is Keiran, we are from Cumbria but are living in Manchester at the minute. Hes a HGV Driver, I'm a midwife.

No children yet, but hopefully will have soon after the wedding ?

We met at a party, he is my friend's cousin. It was the day after my 18th birthday - love at first sight lol

He proposed in the lounge before we set off on holiday - not romantic at all but I knew he was going to do it anyway, and I'm glad he didnt try to travel with my ring because he would have been petrified in case he lost it!

Our wedding is on he 8th of Decemebr, at my local church then at Armathwaite Hall in the Lake District.

Colour scheme is charcoal grey, silver and sparkles, we are having lots of crystals, snowflakes and little Christmassy things.

Yankee candles for favours, table names are Christmas films.

Honeymoon is a Caribbean Cruise over Christmas.

I have a post on hitched of all my flashes, see it here: https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/288722.aspx

    Your turn!

Your name? My name is Jess

Where do you live? I live in a place called New Brighton on The Wirral which is just across the River Mersey from Liverpool

What do you both do jobwise? I work for Social Services dealing wit safeguarding for adults and children and my OH is a financial controller for a hotel.

Any children? I have a daughter from a previous relationship who is 4 1/2.

When did you meet your OH? I met my OH on May 8th 2010 at a dancing event. It was a fancy dress evening with a Grease theme. I was dressed as Sandy and he was dressed as Danny. We are both dancers and discovered we had been in the same room together on more than one occasion but never met. It was an instant spark and we had a few dances. I had to leave early to get back but the next day we found each other through the power of Facebook and the rest is history. He is now my best friend.

The proposal? The proposal is a goodun. We were competing in a dance competition at the Fanous Blackpool Tower Ballroom. We had been practising for months in the run up to the biggest dancing event of the year when disaster struck. I cracked 2 ribs performing a move. I was told i must rest and not practice. I soldiered on although really upset. As I rested the pain improved and we made the decision to give the competition a go. On the day we got into our lycra outfits all nervous and excited and did our very best but the pain returned for me and impacted on my performance meaning that we only made it through one round and got no further. I was disappointed but quite relieved that I could not sit and relax and watch the rest if the competition without the nerves. Come the evening I was happy to get fantastic seat ready to watch the awards ceremony take place when my OH suddenly decided he needed me to accompany him to the bar to help carry some drinks back. A bit disgruntled that I was probs going to lose my seat, I begrudgingly agreed to go with him. As we walked to the back of the massive ballroom, the event organisers took to the stage with mics to begin the awards. I was grrrring at the fact it had started without me when i suddenly became aware of the event organiser saying over the mic that a special award was about to be given. He went on about how this award was not for dancing but for showing hardwork, determination and courage through injury blah blah blah. Iwas thining wtf? When all of a sudden I heard my name! He was asking me onto the floor to except this award. Everyone was looking and OH was nudging me onto the dance floor to go and get my award amid much protesting from me. This place was FULL to the rafter of hundreds of people. I walked the long walk to the stage across the empty dance floor towards the event organisers wife who approached me with a bottle of champagne when as I got there the was a loud gasp from the entire audience and cheering ay whcih point I turned around to find my OH on bended knee behind me presenting me with THE most beautiful ring I have ever seen. Of course I said yes immediately and the whole ballroom erupted with happy applause and I cried! Guest dancers then performed a beautiful spotlight routine in the dark to Beverly Cravens Promise me. This is now a special tune for us whilst we stood hand in hand in our own little bubble of happiness. I t was better than any proposal I could ever wish for. The rest of the night was like our engagement party. Freinds and strangers alike came and congratulated us all night and when we returned to our hotel room we were met with a beautiful bouquet of roses and a bottle of champers and 2 glasses for us to celebrate.

The venue? We are getting married in a church near to us called St Nicholas. We live at the seaside and the Church is very close to the seafront so hoping (weather permitting for some nice beach shots) We then go on to the wedding breakfast at Hillbark Hotel which is a black and white Tudor building with a lovely great hall. It's all wood pannelling, sweeping staircases and log fires. In the evening the room won't hold all our dancing guests so we have the marquee which is gorgeous. Has a gorgeous black star cloth ceiling, black and white chequer board dancefloor and huge black chandeliers.

The date? We get married on 28th December 2012

Your dress? I have had my dress picked out for almost a year now. It's a Madeline Gardner design called Elvira. It's very princessy with stoned bodice, diamante buckle belt and full tulle skirt with crystals. I am having a cathedral length crystal veil also and a tiara of some description.

Colour scheme? Our colour scheme is Christmas red

Theme? The Theme is Christmas - my fave time of the year.

Favours? I am undecided on favous at the moment. Would like to do a personalised bauble wih our names and wedding date on that the guests can hang on their trees each year but I am struggling to find them cheap enough.

Table names? Want a christmas theme and still hunting for ideas. So far I have come up with the reindeers names. I am sure there are better ideas out there though so feel free to suggest.

Honeymoon? We have booked ourselves 2 weeks in Meeru in the Maldivies. Can't wait for that!

And any flashes that you wish to add?

    The venue

    The church

    The dress

    The shoes

    MY OH and DD

Not done flashes before so hope it works :-S

Our names our Melissa & Bryn. We live in Coventry with our 3 children aged 9, 3, 20 months. Im a stay at home mum and OH is an engineer.

We met at a wake! I went to pick my friend up and OH was there with his friend who had been talking to my friend. I spoke to him a little and thought he was hot! I saw him out a few weeks later and we arranged to go on a date.

He proposed to me on Christmas day. It was a huge surprise and although I wish I hadnt been in my PJs it was a very special Christmas day!

We are getting married at The Coleshill Hotel in Coleshill on 1st December 2012.

My dress is Mori Lee 4703.... it wont be ready until September time and I cannot wait to try it on again!

Our colour scheme is champagne gold and we are having a hint of Christmas in our theme. Its our favourite time of year!

For our favours we are donating to the Alzheimer's Society and putting cards on the tables in memory of my nan who passed away last year.

We are naming our tables with words to describe a perfect relationship eg. Love, Trust, Laughter, Passion etc (bit cheesy hehe ?)

We are yet to decide our honeymoon but as we will be taking our children we are going to wait until 2013 to go. It will likely be somewhere in Greece or Cyprus.

So thats us, hi everyone! ?

    Your name? Frances

    Any children? No

When did you meet your OH? 2007 at a mutual friend's leaving night.

The proposal? He proposed in August when we were on holiday in New York. He's mega scared of heights but took me up the Rockefeller Centre one night and quietly popped the question then took us out for cocktails. Was very romantic.

    The date? 29/12/12

Your dress? It's by Essence of Australia and I'm getting a lace cover up made to match

    Table names? Our favourite films

Any children? He has two, a 13 year old daughter and 6 year old son

When did you meet your OH? We worked together, I thought he was a nice bloke until one day it hit me.... "God...you're rather gorgeous!" And it went on from there.

The proposal? We'd planned getting married and I'd picked the ring and on the day he was meant to buy it I received a call from him saying it had already be bought. I felt gutted! However I tried not to let it get me down as I started a new teaching assistant job that week and had too much on. On the Friday he came and picked me up from work in our new car and said he thought we should make the most of the lovely March weather with a drive to Hastings, as I love being by the sea. He had packed all my favourite foods and made two CDs with our songs on. When we arrived we walked along the beach and while stood looking out over the water I said I'd never been so happy. He replied, "I hope so because..." out comes the ring "I love you, will you marry me please?" I love that he said please! Someone had bought the ring....HIM! I cried and told the first person I saw, who didn't speak English and looked confused! We celebrated with two lovely bottles of red planted in the hotel room he'd sneakily booked, then fish and chips and a few bevvies in the pub. Perfect.

The venue? Allington Manor then reception in the Village Hall.

    The date? 1/12/12

    Your dress? Zara Mason

Colour scheme? Hunter green and ivory with some silver

    Theme? Christmas/winter. Bloody love Christmas!

Favours? Baubles with the date and our intials on

Table names? Our favourite Christmas films with a quotation on each, top table is Love Actually, then It's A Wonderful Life and Yogi's First Christmas... Smiley laugh

Honeymoon? Hastings for two days on the 21st of December as I will be teaching so can't take time off and then next year a big family holiday with my step kids.

And any flashes that you wish to add? The Venue

    The shoes

What do you both do jobwise? I'm a trainee Social Worker, studying at university. OH works for a well known brand as an Account Manager

The proposal? I'd been away to Australia in Nov/Dec 2010. The weather here was apparently very bad and he missed me. After picking me up from the airport and taking me home he had prepared a meal and had a bottle of wine waiting. I told him I wasn't hungry (time difference). He then babbled nervously about lots of things before proposing. I fell asleep about 10 minutes later when he was on the phone to his Dad to tell him that he had proposed......I was extremely jet lagged, and unfortunately don't remember very much!!

Absence clearly does make the heart grow fonder ❤️

    The date? 27th December 2012

Your dress? Justin Alexander (I can't show you which one as I am on OH's laptop!)

    Theme? Christmassy/wintery theme

    Favours? Personalised glass charms

    Table names? Undecided

    Honeymoon? Undecided

And any flashes that you wish to add? It won't let me do it on OH's laptop ☹️

Wooooo!!! It's stunning, isn't it?! We actually viewed it at the end of last year, so saw the mahoooooosive Christmas tree in the Vine room. Your colour scheme will fit in well as the tree is dressed in red and gold ?

    Are you using both rooms?

Can I ask why you're getting married here?

Keep in touch....I'd love to see your photo's and wedding report xx

We booked it without seeing it! We only moved back to the UK from Dubai in Feb so I sent my parents around looking at venues before they came out to Dubai for Christmas. They had loved it, I loved the cottages especially as we have a lot of people coming from Wales and wanted to have somewhere close for them to stay. Glad you were impressed by the tree! I'm from Guildford so I wanted to get married near to there - I'm glad its so close to the main road as well in case the weather is snowy or icy!

We have just booked the Vine Room for now but now we've seen the venue I'm really keen having the Orangery for the evening - especially having seen the fairy lights! When they showed us round they said we can book the extra room anytime up to a month before the wedding.

Do you have most things sorted or is there still lots to do? I think I have all the big stuff done but my to-do list is still huge!

We loved the cottages too - It's also practical for family that are visiting so we've booked them all up.

We are having both rooms for our day. We can also use the marquee, but we're not sure about this due to how cold it is likely to be.

We've sorted the catering, photographer, dress, suits etc. We've also booked the registrar. Our ceremony is starting at 2.30pm as I was a bit worried that it will get dark very quickly and we won't be able to have many photo's taken!

Still need to sort out a cake, wedding rings and bridesmaid/page boy suits.

STD's went out in Jan/Feb time....still need to get the invitations made as we are going to phase these out - family first then friends. This is due to the accommodation as we want family to have the option to book it first.

I know what you mean about the 'to-do' list......It's all the 'little' extras that I keep remembering - I could carry on forever!!

Did you get your dress locally?

I got my dress at Number 10 in Farnham - I LOVE it in there, they were so nice. I'm a bit sad that I don't get to see my dress until October now, it was the last one of a particular dress so I'm having the sample so I know its just sat waiting for me in the shop!

My next big thing is getting the invitations sorted - my Brother is a 3D animation artist and very creative so I'm hoping he'll help us out and design something unique. We confirmed our cake booking last weekend - I can highly recommend Gifted Heart Cakes - they have a facebook page if you want to have a look. Emma from there is really lovely and her cakes are amazing. I'm trying to use as many local independent companies as possible.

PS - Sorry to hi-jack this thread! Looking forwards to hearing about the other December brides!

    Your name? Miccy

    Where do you live? London

What do you both do jobwise? I am a research psychologist and he is an English teacher

    children? Not yet

When did you meet your OH? We first met about 7 years ago at a seance that his at the time girlfriend was doing through my flat mate who went to university with him. Then we saw each other here and there at birthdays and gigs and I went to see a play he was in as he used to me an actor. Then he helped me move in with another friend who he went to unveristy with and we invited him to our joint birthday party 2 years ago at which he waited up all night till we were the only people still up and kissed me. And that was that!

The proposal? On my birthday last year. Not planned but absolutely perfect after a wonderful meal at the Oxo Tower restaurant looking at the sunset over London. And as it wasn't planned I had no idea it was coming which made it even better in my opinion.

The venue? Haselbury Mill in Somerset.

    The date? 29th December 2012

Your dress? Jennifer by Forget Me Not Designs

Colour scheme? Dark red, ivory, foliage

Theme? Warm cosy, winter - lots of candles, fairylights, foliage and berries, plus there's an open log fire in the venue which will add a lovely glow to the barn.

    Favours? None

Table names? Not sure yet - perhaps things that mean a lot to us - the names of our favourite bands, our dog's name, the name of the pub where we flirted all night until 'the kiss', etc....

Honeymoon? As OH is a teacher, we can only have a couple of days, so we're going for to the Scarlet Hotel in Cornwall for New Year, then saving up for a stonker next summer - hopefully 3 weeks in Canada.

Have no idea how to flash so thats it!

We've booked the venue, photographer and band and I've chosen my dress. Thats about it!

We havent given notice yet even though we were told to have done it by the end of April when I phoned to book the registrar.

Has anyone else not done it yet?

We tried to get an appointment but they were fully booked until June when we called in February for an Easter appt - OH can only go in the school holidays as is a teacher. Plus now we're moving so will have to wait and try and book one once we've moved to our new borough.

We gave notive in January I think. WE're pretty much all sorted with the big things, need to sort the cake and cars and then just the little fun bits to get (decorations, invites etc).

We're sending our day invites out in September I think and then the evening ones a little later so we can bump up any if we get any that can't attend.
