December 2015 brides

NYE_Bride, 22 June, 2015 at 17:48 Posted on Planning 0 77

Are there any other December 2015 brides out there? I've been waiting for a thread to start but haven't seen one for this year so decided to start it myself!

As my user name suggests I am getting married on 31st December 2015, so excited. I have chosen my dress and have a small lace jacket to wear with it which I am going to take off in the evening. Still need to find a sparkly belt/necklace for the evening.

I am so happy to be getting married to the most amazing man and feel very lucky to be doing in on New Year's Eve too!

I'm getting married 30th December 2015. I have got my dress and will be wearing a cloak and we're getting married in lapland. Where are you ladies getting married?

This is brilliant, I was thinking I was the only December 2015 bride on here!

I have gone for the jacket during the day as I wanted to have a different look for the evening. I would agree and definitely take the jacket with you as then you can see both. Good luck with your dress appointment!

Lapland - wow! That is amazing, have you been there before? I am getting married at Taplow House which is near to Maidenhead. We have exclusive use for the day of the wedding. I really love it there, as soon as I walk in it is like I feel at home. Well a pretty posh home, but home!

Your venue looks stunning nye bride! It looks huge too! Are you staying there the night of the wedding and getting ready there?

We we have been to lapland once before but never to our venue! We went to the official ice bar so have been in something similar as they had a chapel etc there too.

I dont know about you ladies but this year seems to have flown past! Last year it a tad slow when we started planning but now I feel I'm almost out of time haha. Have you got much left to do?

I'm another New Years Eve bride! We've got pretty much everything booked but waiting for things to click into place.

I ordered my dress last July but a mistake at the shop meant that when I went to try it on in April it came to light that it had never been ordered! I'm told it'll be here early September. I ordered BM dresses on 4th February and they haven't arrived yet. I've recently added my fiance's cousins, 9 and almost 12, as bridesmaids but not sure what to dress them in as to get the same dresses as the others is £350 and they'll only fit them for 5 minutes. The older girls are wearing dark purple floor length dresses with silver faux fur jackets and silver shoes.

We got my Mum's outfit sorted a couple of months ago so she's happy. My fiance's Mum is still shopping. My daytime shoes are sorted but my evening ones are awaiting crystal encrusting. My underwear is,sorted too, my veil came with my dress, we've booked hair and makeup, cars, photographer, DJ, photo booth, suits etc.

So at the moment I'm starting to sort out invitations and our gift list.

Welcome to our thread HappyGoldDiamond what a fab date to get married! Christmas will be pretty amazing for you this year.

welcome also to SunnyPinkConfetti my date twin :-) I know how excited you are as it is the same for me. We are having a photo booth too! Could you dress your younger bridesmaids differently to the older ones to save some. Only? Could they match the silver? I was thinking BHS as they have some lovely little bridesmaid/flower girl dresses.

lapland2015 oh I love my venue so much I feel so lucky. It is probably smaller than it looks there are 32 bedrooms. It is slightly too big for us to be honest but it worked out better than our second choice which was way too small. We are staying the night before the wedding along with about half of our day guests which is lovely so will be there for the whole of the wedding day. Lapland just sounds so amazing too!

Yes, we're getting married on NYE and heading off on honeymoon a week later, so we have some time with family/friends who have travelled, avoid school holidays and I can catch up on the things which built up over Christmas at work before we go.

We're going skiing in Whistler, Canada for 11 nights, staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and then we're heading down to Las Vegas for 3 nights, but we haven't booked our hotel there yet, our travel agent advised that prices go down massively 2-3 months before so its worth holding out. Its costing us a lot, but we've deliberately waited so long for our wedding, so that we could afford to have both the wedding and the honeymoon we wanted Smiley smile

No honeymoon booked yet. We did really want to do Vegas but with a 1year old and a 2 year old it's not really possible. We could leave them behind with family but I've not left them for even 1 night yet so not sure I could do it.

    Probably end up at butlins!

We went for the venue DJ too it was just the easiest option and he has done all of the NYE weddings at the venue and will stay until 1am. We had to pay an additional £250 for a late license at the venue until 1am which we had to do, how can you close a bar at midnight on NYE! We are also having a photobooth from him too.

We haven't booked a honeymoon yet. I work in a school so will be back to work on the Monday. We are staying at the venue an additional night after the guests leave on 1st January so we will have a restful day together. We are then most probably going to go to New York as that is where he proposed to me and I loved it there so much we would like to go back but that will be in the Easter holidays if it is New York as Feb half term would be too cold.

The things I have already sorted are venue, photographer, dj, dress during day. We still have everything else to do. I am having a small lace jacket during the day and then will take it off in the evening and make it a bit more sparkly with a belt and jewelry and maybe a sparkly top over it, depends on how my arms look by then! Oh and our colour scheme is sorted as we are having black, white and silver.

Still to sort table decorations, think we may go for candelabras in the centre and black/silver crackers for favours/name cards, bridesmaid/bridesboys dresses/suits, invitations (better think hard about this soon!), cake although I think it is going to be an M&S one, flowers, and probably lots of other things I can't think of at the moment!

I was thinking of dressing them in long silver dresses, as the older BMs are in long dresses, but I'm struggling to find anything suitable on the high street. Part of the difficulty is one of them is almost 12 so i can't put her in cute frilly dresses and she's at an age where (to quote her Mum) "she's growing in all directions". Stores are starting to have their summer sales so hopefully the winter stock will be in soon, and winter stuff is probably more likely to includ silver. Another consideration is lilac as my bouquet is having some lilac in (to soften the contrast between dark purple and Ivory). I considered putting them in Ivory with something dark purple to tie them in but I don't know of that would look odd? I'd really need to see pictures from someone who had done it to know if it works, as I'm a bit OCD about things matching.

We were planning Sri lanka and the Maldives but can't book it as we're waiting on dates of h2b training dates :-/ I reckon we will go around June/July time. Our colour scheme is blue, silver and white. I would have loved to do black but it gets dark pretty early over there so even though snow makes it seem bright I think black dresses wouldn't look right :-/ how have you all found booking suppliers during the Xmas/new year season? I found it pretty easy as my suppliers didn't have many bookings

Wow Zimbabwe will be lovely! I am flying my dress over as hand luggage. The shop will pack it for me. I don't know how good measurements are via the Internet i have heard horror stories and also success stories online, can you not get a dress here and fly it with you or is online the only option?

Welcome to the thread selinah ufic. I am the same as Lapland it is something I would do with caution as have heard some horror stories but there is a chance for something nice too. Why are you having to ship your dress? Is it because of luggage restrictions?

Paid our 50% deposit to the venue today as it is six months away. That means we are already over half way there from when we booked it, where does the time go?!

I also have 4 weeks until I head to the wedding dress boutique to have my measurements taken for my dress - I didn't have them done when I bought it as knew I wanted to lose weight so 28th July is D-day!

I also found out today that we can have a candy buffet in the evening so this is something I am also now considering.

Nye_bride you must be excited to get your measurements taken. I'm hoping on 18th when we go bridesmaid shopping I can book in dates for my fittings. I can't believe its 6 months today until I get married! I got my hand luggage bag today to celebrate haha. I really like the idea of sweet buffets and hot chocolate tables I'm just gutted no wedding I have been to has had one yet so I have never taken advantage of one. What dress have you all gone for if you don't mind me being nosey?

Welcome Becca, time is certainly flying by!

Lapland my dress is by Sassi Holford called Jessica. I am wearing it with the Camilla shrug during the day and then going to take if off and may get the Charlotte top with sequins, or wear a sparkly belt and necklace. I am sorry, I have absolutely no idea how to add a photo on here so you will have to Google if you want to see it :-)

Hello, all is well here you? I took my bridesmaids dress shopping at the weekend and they chose their dresses so they are now all on order and my uncle is searching for a cloak for me in Canada before I commit to etsy. My oh has got his shoes and that is about it! His suit in a few weeks and I guess dads suits to do too. How are your plans going?

That's great progress well done, I have one bridesmaid haven't looked at dresses yet. I have got my wedding shoes so excited they are lovely. Went crazy and bought Louboutins!! About £130 cheaper than the Jimmy Choos I was going to get lol! My wedding venue have also said I'm ok to include a miniature brandy and coke in my welcome bags in hotel rooms so I'm very pleased about that too.

It's good to hear you're plans are going well ladies! We've made some good progress in the last couple of weeks too.

I managed to get a dress for my 9 year old bridesmaid in the Monsoon sale for £27! It's Ivory with a pink sash but my Mum is going to change the sash to purple. For the almost 12 year old I've ordered the same dress as the adults, as they do a junior version. I did feel bad initially for dressing the little one like a flower girl but she likes her frock and no one will dare tell her she isn't a bridesmaid!

We were off work 2 weeks ago so we did the menu tasting for our Wedding Breakfast, along with my Mum (I'm fussy anfd veggie so needed another normal person). Our guests have to pre-order 3 courses, and there's 3 options for each course so we needed to iron out what to offer as there's 6 options per course for us to choose from. The food was yummy and we came to our decisions quite easily. We also gave notice, it lasts for a year so figured it's another thing out of the way.

We've ordered the sweets for our candy buffet, had to get them delivered to Mum's to avoid temptation! We ordered absolutely loads as I wanted variety so hope they mostly get eaten.

As my wedding is NYE I am having 2 pairs of shoes, the daytime pair are Ivory and encrusted with Ivory pearls and they were done in April (and look amazing). For the evening I'm having my shoes encrusted with purple and pink crystals, so they will look like this:-

I dropped them off to the lady who does it - handily, despite doing orders all over the UK, I discovered after contacting her that she lives 3 doors from me - so they will be ready soon. Yay!

Fabulous shoes Sunnypinkconfetti! I was thinking about having two pairs of shoes but not sure I can justify the expense now that I bought such an expensive pair!

That was a bargain of a dress at £27, I think it will be fine as she is younger so others will still see her as a bridesmaid even though it is a different dress and as she loves it that is the most important thing.
