December brides & grooms!

vicster, 11 October, 2011 at 11:15 Posted on Planning 0 13

How are we all doing? Can't believe how close it's getting now. we're New Year's Eve so just under 12 weeks to go. I think we're getting there though. Did our tasting and I had my hair trial at the weekend (we live far from where the wedding is so not sure if we'll get back again). I *think* we're down to organising the ceremony, chosing music for various parts of the day, he's to finalise suits and i've got some shoe and underwear shopping to do before first fitting in mid-November. Oh and we've still to decide on something to do at midnight - we've been struggling with that. I've picked up a wee ivory faux fur jacket (in primark - bargaintastic!) and some weddington boots heehee I'm so ready for bad weather!

Starting to get our RSVP's back which just makes it all so real! How are you all getting on?

I have a date twin! We get married on New Years Eve this year as well. What's your shrug from Primark like? We've pretty much got everything sorted, now it's just the little details, music, etc. Like you we're trying to think of something to do at midnight, we thought about giving everyone a free drink but want something a bit more of a celebration.

Oh god, cant believe how organised you all are. Ours is 10 December 2011 and this week will be sending out our invites (dad has been very poorly so the wedding has been on the back boiler for the last 2 weeks or so). Evening invites too will be going out next week, H2B and bestman to be measured when bestman back from hols, the ushers are to be measured in the next 2 weeks, appointment to see the TOG next week. Bridesmaid dresses have arrived so need to go and try those on and the girls are then finished, need to get my underwear and hold ups. Have a list of "to dos" so will be checking that this week.

I have a date twin! most exciting Smiley smile ya, i don't think our budget can stretch to a drink for everyone at that point unfortunately. we've already bugged the venue about chinese lanterns and a balloon drop at midnight, neither of which is feasible. spoke to a guy at a wedding fair on sunday who makes anything (business is called i make anything) and he suggested exploding balloons that shower confetti! its done by remote control. we're going to look into that Smiley smile

Sal.san we just had to send our invites out early because of the date involved. lots of people already seem to have plans made. sounds like you are well on top of things though!!

Where abouts are you? I like the idea of a balloon drop, something we might have to look in to. We did want fireworks but they're just too expensive. What are you colours?

Weddings in belfast though i'm living in kent - you? ya, fireworks are pricey and apparently we can't have them in northern ireland after 10.30 and you have to get a licence! we're having black and silver and ivory as colours. BM's are in black dresses.

have you had a good response to NYE? most people love it but we've had a few that can't make it due to kids or other weddings!

I'm in kent too!! Not far from bluewater. I like your colours, very elegant. Have you found it much more expensive because of the day? We're having navy, silver and white, can't believe how near it is!! We're only having a small wedding, 40 to the day and we've only had one person decline and our evening invites have just gone out so will see what response we'll get, I know a few people can't make it due to child care arrangements. Most people have said at least they'll know what they're doing that night. Oh I'm so excited to have a date twin, I didn't think I'd ever find one!!

Wow - kent as well! i'm in canterbury! maybe we should try and get a kent meet up going - there seem to be a few!!

Haven't had a problem on prices, mostly because the venue is owned by the council and we've friends for dj and band. did our own invites and oh's mum is doing the cake. has that been a problem for you?

similar size for us to - invited 50 to the day and then another 70 to the evening. and our colours are pretty similar too Smiley smile

Well if you wanted to email to discuss plans, etc my email is (removed) We should arrange a Kent meet up although it is getting close to christmas. Our venue doesn't charge anymore and everything else has been the same, the only thing that's slightly more expensive was our DJ but I don't think that's too bad anyway. What made you pick New Years Eve? I love Christmas time so always wanted a winter wedding and thought why not pick that day and have a but more of a celebration! I love telling people our date. I really hope we get a little bit of snow on the day. Have you got family in Ireland?

I know what you mean. we'd a meeting last week and discovered it would have been better to discuss that before we sent out our invites. we've left things quite tight. it'll be fine but if i'd known we'd have had the ceremony even half an hour earlier (if not an hour!)
