December brides - weather worries?

Hello Sunshine, 1 December, 2010 at 12:59 Posted on Planning 0 11

Well, I'm getting married NEXT WEEKEND (?) and I'm now starting to get more than a bit worried about the weather. We've got loads of people travelling a long way - what if it's snowing as badly as this?! What if I fall over in my dress?! What if deliveries are screwed up and the caterers can't get there?!

Eeek. Anyone else getting concerned?

I'm not a December bride but I can see why you're worrying! Isn't it meant to melt this weekend oop here though? Where are you getting wed? I will keep everything crossed for you, I would be pitching a fit if I was getting married next weekend!

Ah, thanks very much, all positive vibes gratefully received! I really hope it is going to subside, I've got so many jobs to do over the weekend I could do without being snowed in ?

The ceremony is in York city centre so I'm praying mainline trains will still be ok - if people can get to the city they'll be fine. I bet we'll have some interesting outfits amongst the guests though!

Lynnie, that's my worst nightmare! Where abouts are you? I hope you can make it.

I haven't asked no, though the first time we went to view it it was snowing - they told me the grounds-people are very proactive about keeping the paths clear and it was really well-gritted then, to be fair.

I get married on friday and so far out of 70 guests we have had 2 cancellations because of them not being able to travel due to the weather. The majority of our guests are coming from 1 hour away and I hope they will be ok to get here still. Our wedding suits are coming from dorset to the north west as a family member has arranged them for us so I am currently praying they don't get any snow.

Wow, Lilsparkle, fingers crossed for you! Good news that you've had so few cancellations and I'll keep everything crossed for your suits. Are you all set otherwise?

Yep all set now. We're fine we have no snow at all just a few icy pavements! I'm having a late afternoon wedding all in one venue so once i'm inside I won't be going out again so the cold weather doesn't bother me much!

Don't worry Lynnie, my tongue was in my cheek ? I really hope you can get there, I know it's been horrendous up near you hasn't it? Good luck with it.

Lilsparkle, that sounds positive! Can you get your ushers to run round with a bag of grit? ? Hope you have a fabulous day!

Josiep00, I've stopped looking after Metcheck told me it wasn't going to snow at all last weekend. Yeah right! How are you getting on?

Getting on ok thanks, just sorting out all the little bits now... booked tomorrow off work to sit in my grotto (spare room!) to make all the necessities.
