Decent places to get a dress on a budget.

flowersinherhair, 6 January, 2013 at 20:11 Posted on Planning 0 4

I know of a couple of discount wedding dress shops, I'll try the high street too, but if those don't work out can anyone advise whether to buy from Etsy, eBay or preloved?

I've heard of girls being happy with their pre-loved dresses.

I've got mine from a sample sale. Berketex do wedding sale's with dresses starting at £100 (although these are older styles) & there were a few for approx £500 when went as well as money off brand new styles.

It depends what your dress budget is and what you want. I find myself repeating his loads but, research local dressmakers and ask them about pricing-discuss what you want and what your budget is, you may be surprised about how cheap custom dresses can be Smiley smile If you order something from ebay or somewhere similar, I'd advise ordering a standard size rather than made to measure & having a dressmaker alter i if need be. Just something to think about Smiley smile

I bought my dress from stillwhite.co.uk. It was brand new, unaltered and unworn and cost less than half what it would have done from the shop. I would just keep an eye out to see what comes up near you on one of the various websites. I'm not sure how much time you have left though? I had originally planned to get the dress from the bridal shop and went to try some on. I found the one I loved which was unfortunate because I hated the shop so i looked for the dress on several pre used sites and found it. I also looked at preloved, ebay, gumtree and a couple of others. Good luck!

My friend went for a sample sale dress and loved it, it was originally £900 and she got it down to £300. Ebay is a good shout, just bear in mind you might need some alterations, so just account for that in the price.
