Decorating reception venue

MsJackson78, 14 August, 2009 at 20:50 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hey All

Here to pick your brains again ? I want to decorate our wedding reception venue as it is a bit bland and want to pretty it up. Want to get drapes and lighting to make it look really atmospheric and special does anyone know what sort of price this could cost me and recommend any sites I can look at?

I think some marquee companies will hire out their linings/draps also look for event decoration sites - I don't know what area you are based in so can't recommend any sites, although someone else may be able to.

Princess*Jen - do you realise you've used the sh@gging icon lol?

    Hi

I am a venue dresser and have drapes & Twinkle backdrop. Have a look through my albums under Chair covers & Venue Decoration where you can see some examples of our work.

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/aislebeyourscom/sets/

If you want to email me some pics of the venue I can then give you advice on what kind of decor you would need.

Here are a few Before & after pics to give you some ideas of what is possible:

Hi Sherrie the pics look great ?

I dont have any pics of the room but it is basically a standard rectangle shape approx 20 x 30ft there are windows to one side of the room and a large glass viewing gallery as a wall as it is a squash club. The walls are pretty bland so I want to create a particular look I am going for a more fairytale look with ivory drapes and either fairylights or uplighters to create atmosphere in the room. The reception is quite informal as we are not having a sit down meal. What sort of price could I expect to pay for a company to create this look for me?

Altho a friend has said she would be happy to do it for me as she has had some experience decorating balls and proms venues ? if you could you give me some tips about what material I could use for the drapes would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Thanks all for your replies. If I get any good tips Princess*Jen I'll let you know. All this planning is right up my alley so loving all the organisation of the big day. Good luck with you planning I'll look out for any updates from you. I get married at the end of March so not long to go for me ? but only just started LOL

Thanks Pennyfarthing we actually went to an event last night so got the marquee company details so keep my fingers crossed than can offer me a good deal as would like to let someone else deal with the stress of the decorating. Altho a friend from work has offered to do it for me ?
