I think like all addictions there is a very limited amount that you can do to help until he really confronts the issue himself.

He can ban himself from local betting shops the same way he can ban himself from online gambling sites but that's something he has to do.

It might be worth suggesting that he contacts gamblers anonymous ( https://gamblersanonymous.org.uk/ ) as they will be able to help him to make the changes he needs to make. It may also be an idea for you to contact them as they may have a support group for people in your position who can help you to cope and help him cope too.

It must be incredibly hard to be in your position. ? Until he sees that he has a problem and the severity of it however there are unlikey to be any changes. Like alcoholism he has to some how face up to the fact that to cure this he can never gamble again and reaching that point can be a very long and drawn out process.

Hi Shoegal, you could be me. My husband was exactly the same as yours and decided he needed help 5 years ago, went to GA (as recommended above) and has never looked back. GA has been a great help and the good thing with you is that he has asked for help and recognises he has a problem.

I wish you tons of luck and please feel free to email through my profile if you want to talk.
